TL;DR: 2 heuristic job rotation procedures for preventing industrial workers from being excessively exposed to ergonomics and safety hazards in their workplaces are discussed.
Abstract: This paper discusses 2 heuristic job rotation procedures for preventing industrial workers from being excessively exposed to ergonomics and safety hazards in their workplaces The objective of the procedures is 2-fold: (a) to find a minimum number of workers required for the given set of jobs, and (b) to determine a set of safe worker-job-period assignments such that all workers’ exposure to hazard does not exceed the permissible limit Here, occupational hazards are divided into 2 categories: single- and variable-limit hazards In the first category, workers are considered to have equal capability to withstand the hazard; in the second category, the limit of hazard exposure varies for different individuals Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the procedures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the benefits of public participation concerning social and environmental impacts in the development of an infrastructure project, where a small hydropower project, which is situated in the Nan Province, Thailand, is selected as a case study.
Abstract: This article presents the benefits of public participation concerning social and environmental impacts in the development of an infrastructure project. A small hydropower project, which is situated in the Nan Province, Thailand, is selected as a case study. In this study, the public participation process comprised an interview questionnaire survey and a focus group discussion; 1550 questionnaires were used to collect the opinion of local people and stakeholders regarding the project's development. Citizen dialogue and focus group discussions were conducted to provide information and to collect details of the public's opinions, concerns, and needs. The results from the questionnaires were analyzed statistically and then illustrated on maps using the Geographic Information System technique. The results from the citizens' dialogue and the focus group discussion show the benefit of giving project information to local people and bringing the needs of all groups into consideration in planning, decision-making, and the implementation of the project. TL;DR: An algorithm capable of estimating the degree to which a face expresses a given emotion is evaluated, finding an orderly mapping of faces to clusters as the subject's face moves from a neutral to very happy emotional display.
Abstract: Although many systems exist for automatic classification of faces according to their emotional expression, these systems do not explicitly estimate the strength of given expressions. This paper describes and empirically evaluates an algorithm capable of estimating the degree to which a face expresses a given emotion. The system first aligns and normalizes an input face image, then applies a filter bank of Gabor wavelets and reduces the data's dimensionality via principal components analysis. Finally, an unsupervised Fuzzy-C-Mean clustering algorithm is employed recursively on the same set of data to find the best pair of principle components from the amount of alignment of the cluster centers on a straight line. The cluster memberships are then mapped to degrees of a facial expression (i.e. less Happy, moderately happy, and very happy). In a test on 54 previously unseen happy faces., we find an orderly mapping of faces to clusters as the subject's face moves from a neutral to very happy emotional display. Similar results are observed on 78 previously unseen surprised faces.

TL;DR: In this article, the proposed feed-in tariffs in grid connected photovoltaic power plants in Thailand were investigated by an energy model (RETscreen model) in three categories; (1) residential rooftop, (2) integrated ground mounted and rooftop solar photovoloftaic, and (3) utility scale with the installed capacity larger than 1 MW.
