TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the prevalence of depression and its association with sleep patterns, eating habits and body weight status among a convenience sample of 527 adolescents, ages 10-17 years in Mumbai, India.
Abstract: Adolescents with depression engage in unhealthy eating habits and irregular sleep patterns and are often at an increased risk for weight-related problems. Improvement in these lifestyle behaviours may help to prevent depression, but knowledge about the associations between depression, sleep, eating habits and body weight among adolescents in India is limited. This cross-sectional study investigated the prevalence of depression and its association with sleep patterns, eating habits and body weight status among a convenience sample of 527 adolescents, ages 10-17 years in Mumbai, India. Participants completed a survey on sleep patterns such as sleep duration, daytime sleepiness and sleep problems and eating habits such as frequency of breakfast consumption, eating family meals and eating out. Depression was assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire modified for Adolescents (PHQ-A). Anthropometric measurements were also taken. Within this sample, 25% had moderate to severe depression (PHQ-A ≥ 10) and 46% reported sleeping less than 6 h > thrice a week. Adolescents with moderate to severe depression had significantly higher body mass index than those with minimal depression (26.2 ± 6.6 vs. 20.2 ± 4.8 kg/m2 ). The odds of having clinically significant depression (PHQ-A ≥ 10) was 4.5 times higher in adolescents who had family meals ≤ once a week, 1.6 times higher among those who were sleeping <6 h and 2.3 times higher among participants having trouble falling to sleep more than thrice a week. The findings indicated that a significant proportion of adolescents had depression symptoms; improving sleep and eating habits may present potential targets for interventions.

TL;DR: Correlation coefficient between two antennas elements is near to zero proves antenna is suitable for diversity performance and shows that, ultra wide bandwidth can be achieved with good isolation and maximum simulated gain of 6 dBi and maximum efficiency 83%.
Abstract: Two element UWB diversity antenna with defected ground structure and parasitic elements with high gain is proposed. Total antenna size of designed two elements multiple input multiple output system is reduced by sharing radiator between two circular antenna elements. The shape of ground plane is optimised to achieve ultra wide band characteristics (2.43---12 GHz). With the utility of defected ground structure effective area of antenna is reduced as well as there is suppression of cross polar fields. Reduction in mutual coupling is studied by using parasitic element. Simulated and measured results shows that, ultra wide bandwidth can be achieved with good isolation (S12 < ź 15 dB), maximum simulated gain of 6 dBi and maximum efficiency 83%. Correlation coefficient between two antennas elements is near to zero proves antenna is suitable for diversity performance. The compact size of antenna with dimensions 50 mm × 40 mm exhibit nearly omnidirectional pattern in H plane.

TL;DR: Birth outcome was influenced by maternal height, weight, postpartum BMI, haemoglobin levels prior to delivery, gestational age and nutrient intake particularly energy, protein, vitamin C and calcium and attention has to be given to nutrition of an adolescent girl by proper nutrition education, pre-pregnancy counseling which will help in better pregnancy outcome.
Abstract: The present cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to assess the nutritional status, maternal haemoglobin concentration, anthropometric details and its association with neonatal anthropometry. 200 pregnant women aged 18-37 years in the gestational age of 27-41 weeks, without any co-morbidity and having a complete medical record were included in the study. Pregnant women who were in labour in the maternity ward and had visited the tertiary centre in Mumbai for antenatal checkups were enrolled for the study. Predesigned, pretested questionnaire was used to obtain socio-demographic and pregnancy details along with 24-hour dietary recall taken prior to delivery. Maternal and neonatal anthropometry was measured by trained personnel using standardized techniques. Haemoglobin concentration prior to delivery and postpartum, birth weight and length was obtained from the hospital record. Analyses were performed using SPSS software (version 16.0) to determine the effect of nutritional status on birth outcome. P-value <0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. The mean maternal anthropometric details were height-153.13±10.39cm, postpartum weight-57.02±11.57kg, postpartum BMI-24.29±3.54kg/m 2 , haemoglobin concentration prior to delivery-11.19±1.78g/dL and post-partum-9.97±1.68g/dL. The mean neonatal birth weight was 2.77±0.50kg though 22.3% neonates had low birth weight (<2.5kg). The mean neonatal anthropometric details were length-45.72±1.14cm, MUAC-10.48±1.14cm, ponderal index-2.88±0.43g/cm 3 and MUAC/Head circumference-0.31±0.03. However, women (≥28 years) were older (+2.46 years), weighed more both pre- and post-partum and also had a higher interpregnancy interval (+1.3 years) and gravida as compared to women (≤27 years) (p<0.05). Birth outcome was influenced by maternal height, weight, postpartum BMI, haemoglobin levels prior to delivery, gestational age and nutrient intake particularly energy, protein, vitamin C and calcium. Maternal diet prior to pregnancy and during pregnancy along with maternal anthropometry, haemoglobin concentrations prior to delivery and gestational age greatly influences birth outcome. Thus, attention has to be given to nutrition of an adolescent girl by proper nutrition education, pre-pregnancy counseling which will help in better pregnancy outcome.

TL;DR: In the field of positive psychology, Thakre et al. as mentioned in this paper found that workers continue to exhibit extra role behaviours in spite of the uncertainty and constant change in their work places.
Abstract: The field of positive psychology is gaining prominence in the area of industrial and organizational psychology. The characteristics of hope and hopelessness appear to play a crucial role in the workplace. Research on hope implies important consequences for how employees are managed and their commitment to the organization. The relationship between hope and secondary appraisal may be an important intervening variable in the development of organizational commitment (Lazarus & Folkman, 1984).Hopeful individuals are resilient, have the will to struggle, to achieve positive outcomes, and survive illnesses. Hopeless individuals, on the other hand, are observed to experience more obstacles and less success in goal achievement and, in extreme cases, exhibit loss of energy, enthusiasm, and self-concept, and potentially clinical depression (Farran, Herth, & Popovich, 1995; Snyder et al., 1996).Hope, in combination with adaptive coping strategies, can lead to expanded functioning in which the person feels more positive, his or her expressed thoughts and behaviours are more adaptive, and his or her relationships with others and the world culminate in a greater aliveness (Fromm, 1968). Hope has the ability to be fluid in its expectations, and in the event that the desired object or outcome does not occur, hope can still be present (Farran, Herth, & Popovich, 1995).Hope is a cognitive set of positive expectation for goal attainment that is based on a reciprocally derived sense of successful agency (goal directed determination) and pathways (planning of ways to meet goals) (Snyder, Irving & Anderson, 1991). A study on hope and satisfaction with among youth shows that, satisfaction with life is higher among hopeful youths (Thakre, 2013). However, organizational hope is a vital for studying and strengthening organizations. It affirms the best and most promising dimensions of social and organizational life and provides a moral image of the future to guide collective action (Ludema, Wilmont, & Srivastva, 1997).High levels of commitment are associated with essential work practices and health issues among employees (Thakre & Khubalkar, 2012). These practices include teamwork, psychological contracts, employee involvement, turnover intention, empowerment, and high quality of performance measured by research on organizational citizenship behaviours (Thakre, 2015; Organ, 1990; Katz & Kahn 1978; Smith, Qrgan & Near, 1983; Graham, 1991;Podsakoff et al., 1990).Becker (I960) conducted early studies of organizational commitment. He stated that commitment was a construct that explained the various types of behaviours considered by individuals to be an investment in organizations that ultimately constrain all their action and future. Mowday, Porter and Steers (1982) outlined the distinction between attitudinal commitment and behavioural commitment. Allen and Meyer (1990) state organizational commitment as a "psychological state that binds an individual with the mission of the organization". They contributed in defining the three components of organizational commitment i.e. affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment.Working environments where individuals generate hopeful working team relationships, the result is high energy, extra role performance of OCB. Studies have found workers continuing to exhibit extra role behaviours in spite of the uncertainty and constant change in their work places. Over time OCBs have become valued as critical to organizational success (Katz, 1964; Katz & Kahn, 1978) and important to organizational survival (Miles & Snow, 1994). According to Katz and Kahn (1978), OCBs are part of the spontaneous and innovative behaviours instrumental to organization effectiveness.Bateman and Organ (1983) proposed the concept of organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) to denote organizationally beneficial behaviours that are neither enforced on the basis of formal role obligations nor elicited by contractual compensation. …

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of aqueous and methanol extracts of Rosa damascena flower petals by Soxhlet extraction method.
Abstract: Rosa damascena commonly called as Rose is one of the most important plant for the pharmaceutical, flavour and fragrance industries. Rose petals extract and rose water is commonly used for skin enhancement by the cosmetics industry. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of aqueous and methanol extracts of Rosa damascena flower petals. Individual aqueous and methanol extract were prepared by Soxhlet extraction method. Phytochemical analysis of the extracts showed the presence of carbohydrates, proteins, tannins, phenols and alkaloids. The total phenolic content and total flavonoid content was also determined. The hydrogen donating ability of the extracts were measured in the presence of 1,1- diphenyl- 2- picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) radical. The IC50 values of aqueous and methanol extract were 8.30μg/ml and 4.85 μg/ml respectively by DPPH method and 70.90μg/ml and 47.18μg/ml respectively by Griess assay method. The IC50 values were comparable with standard ascorbic acid. Antibacterial activity of the extracts was determined by the agar diffusion method against 9 species of bacteria and fungi: Staphylococcus aureus, Sterptococcus pyogens, Clostridium perfringens, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Klebsiella aerogens, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. Both extracts were found to be effective against all the bacteria except Aspergillus niger. Methanol extract showed good antimicrobial activity at 40 mg whereas aqueous extract showed good antimicrobial activity at 80 mg when compared with standard Chloramphenicol and Fluconazole. The presence of flavanoids and phenolic compounds in the Rosa damascena flower extracts may have contributed to the antioxidant and antibacterial activities.
