TL;DR: A novel technique to model the interleaver used in IEEE 802.11a and IEEE802.11g based WLAN in VHDL using Xilinx ISE using finite state machine (FSM) based address generator and FPGA's internal resource based memory is presented.
Abstract: In the recent past, the IEEE 802.11 based wireless LAN has emerged as a prevailing broadband indoor networking technology. Fast spread of wireless data communication systems and the ever increasing demand for faster data rates require quick design, implementation and test of new wireless algorithms for data communications. In this paper we present a novel technique to model the interleaver used in IEEE 802.11a and IEEE 802.11g based WLAN in VHDL using Xilinx ISE. Our proposed technique comprises of finite state machine (FSM) based address generator and FPGA's internal resource based memory. The FSM based approach provides higher operating frequency and better FPGA resource utilization. Use of FPGA's embedded memory offers advantages like reduced access time, lesser occupancy of circuit board and lower power consumption than external memory based techniques. The interleaver memory is modeled using two different types of embedded memory; one with dedicated and the other with distributed memory. Comparative analysis between the two techniques has been made in respect of use of FPGA's internal resources, maximum operating frequency and power consumption. The simulation result obtained using ModelSim XE-III software is also presented.

TL;DR: An area efficient low power high Speed 3-bit Flash Type ADC using bit referenced encoder is proposed in 180 nm CMOS technology and the concept of Threshold Modified Comparator Circuit (TMCC) is also introduced as a modification of the conventional comparator.
Abstract: Analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are needed in all those applications, which interface with the analogue world and exploit the digital processing of data. As digital processing is more and more gaining ground over analogue signal processing, the importance of ADCs correspondingly increases. The Flash type ADC, also known as Direct Conversion ADC, uses a bank of comparators, operating in parallel to achieve a high data conversion rate. In this paper, an area efficient low power high Speed 3-bit Flash Type ADC using bit referenced encoder is proposed in 180 nm CMOS technology. The concept of Threshold Modified Comparator Circuit (TMCC) is also introduced as a modification of the conventional comparator. The proposed design of the ADC occupies an active area of 0.0036 mm2 and consumes 43.146 µW of average power while operating with an input frequency (f in ) of 10 MHz and a supply voltage of 1.8 Volt.

TL;DR: A load frequency control scheme with the integration of Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) which can enhance the system dynamics under load fluctuations and compares the superiority of the former under nominal system conditions is presented.
Abstract: This paper presents a load frequency control scheme with the integration of Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) which can enhance the system dynamics under load fluctuations. For this, a detailed multi-area multi-source system is designed with a solar-thermal and a thermal unit in Area1, a gas and thermal unit along with an electric vehicle (EV) fleet in Area2, and two thermal units and an EV fleet in Area3. The thermal units are single reheat turbine type, and appropriate generation rate constraints are considered for thermal and gas units. The application of Two Degree of Freedom Proportional-Integral-Derivative (2DOF-PID) controller has been made as secondary controller in all the control areas. A new nature inspired optimization technique called as Wind Driven Optimization is employed for simultaneous optimization of the controller gains and parameters. Comparison of 2DOF-PID controller with classical controllers reveals the superiority of the former under nominal system conditions. The impact of V2G into the system is tested which proves that the magnitude and numbers of oscillations of the system response is reduced when it encounters load fluctuations. The robustness of the optimized gains and parameters of 2DOF-PID controller have been verified by carrying out sensitivity analysis under different system conditions.
