Abstract: Bacterial count (SPC) and somatic cell count (SCC) are considered universal indicators of milk quality. The objective of this study was to identify SPC and SCC clusters in milk samples from three microregions of the state of Rondonia and to evaluate the influence of year period and tank type on these indicators. A total of 566 milk cooling tanks linked to dairy industries with the Federal Inspection Service located in the Ariquemes, Ji-Parana and Porto Velho microregions were evaluated. The SPC and SCC results of the tank samples and the geographical coordinates were obtained from the dairy industry database; the study focused on the results of official analyses carried out by the Laboratories of Milk Quality accredited to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA) in 2015, constituting a pool of 6,792 data subsets from 2,209 farmers. To elaborate the spatial distribution maps of the quality indicators, the ArcView 3.1® software was used. Spatial dependence was evaluated by geostatistics, using the ordinary kriging method for data interpolation. Variance analysis (ANOVA) was performed using the SAS 9.0 GLM procedure on the logarithmic transformation of SCC and SPC, using as variables the type of tank (individual and collective) and season (dry and rainy). The frequency of milk quality adjustments to the limits defined in the legislation has shown that SPC is a major challenge for the state’s production chain. There were no significant differences in this frequency for SCC and SPC, neither between the microregions studied, nor between the dry and rainy season (p > 0.05). The analysis of variance considered the period of year and type of cooling tank and showed higher SPC and SCC in the rainy season (p < 0.05); SCC and SPC were higher in collective tanks used by more than 5 farmers (p < 0.05). Spatial dependence was weak for SCC (DD = 22.02) and moderate for SPC (DD = 25.93), indicating the Machadinho do Oeste region as a priority area for mastitis control, and the Ariquemes microregion and west of the Porto Velho microregion as areas of high SPC. The results demonstrated the feasibility of spatial analysis as a tool for evaluating of refrigerated raw milk quality indicators and may support the definition of public and private strategies and policies to improve the milk quality and legislation adequacy.

Abstract: Toxic baits, widely used against insect pests, are being successfully used to control mosquito vectors. In the present study, basic aspects for Attractive Toxic Sugar Baits (ATSBs) use as a control tool against Aedes aegypti including insecticide dosage, bait composition and plant application under laboratory conditions were evaluated. The Lethal Concentrations (LC 50 and 90) of boric acid (insecticide) Ae. aegypti engorgement and mortality were determined using ATSBs prepared using fruits (guava, mango and cupuacu) and offered to mosquitoes on cotton discs and also sprayed on a Kalanchoe blossfeldiana plant. LCs of Ae. aegypti males and females did not differ significantly and varied from 0.53 to 2.46%, decreasing from 24 to 48 hours. No significant difference in the proportion of engorged male mosquitoes in ATSB (0.60) and Attractive Sugar Bait (ASB) (0.65) was found, but females engorged more on ASB (control bait) (0.80) compared to ATSBs (0.67). General mortality rate of mosquitoes in ATSB and ASB were 0.81 and 0.10 for males, respectively; 0.61 and 0.12 for females, respectively. Fruit composition affected neither engorgement nor mortality. ATSB applied on plants caused the mortality of males and females ranging from 0.75-0.87 while mortality on ASB sprayed plants varied from 0.07-0.14. Different common fruit juices and a low toxic oral insecticide are readily accepted, engorged and causes a high mortality both males and females Ae. aegypti using ATSBs. Moreover, the use of a common indoor plant in the region sprayed with ATSB under laboratory conditions leads to significant mosquito mortality.

Abstract: In this study, the use of soybean extract on production and physicochemical characteristics of kefir was assessed. Also, the growth parameters of yeasts and lactic acid bacteria (LAB) during fermentation were evaluated. Experiments were carried out combining water-soluble soybean extract (S) and milk (M), leading to the evaluation of total or partial replacement of milk (formulations 100%S, 50%S50%M) a control formulation (100%M). During kefir fermentation, physicochemical analysis carried out as well as enumeration of yeasts and LAB. In all formulations, lactic acid concentration increased due to carbohydrates consumption by kefir microorganisms resulting in decrease of soluble solids content and increase of acidity. The final acidity of beverages varied from 0.600 to 0.738 g of lactic acid/100 mL and soluble solids ranged from 6.40 to 5.67 °Brix. Formulations 100%S and 100%M presented LAB counts of 8 log10 CFU/mL. LAB lag time increased in formulation 50%S50%M compared to formulations 100%S and 100%M (2.20 h, 1.03 h and 1.06 h, respectively). LAB and yeasts growth parameters were not affected in beverages prepared with milk and soybean kefir. This is the first study that examined the yeast and LAB growth parameters using water-soluble soybean extract fermented with kefir.

Abstract: O trabalho apresenta a criacao, confeccao e experimentacao de um kit de material pedagogico composto de uma placa de metal com manta magnetica quadriculada em uma das faces, eixos x e y de ima com numeracao em braille, formas geometricas planas em EVA com manta magnetica em uma das faces, pinos de imas, pedacos de arame flexivel e pedacos de raios de bicicleta de tamanhos variados. O kit possibilita que, atraves do sentido do tato, o aprendiz cego realize diversas atividades matematicas que envolvam figuras geometricas planas e graficos de funcao polinomial. O material e produto de uma pesquisa qualitativa de Mestrado Profissional em Ensino de Ciencias e Matematica. Durante pesquisa de mestrado o material foi experimentado por apenas uma estudante cega do sexto ano do ensino fundamental, de uma escola publica do Estado de Rondonia, no estudo de conteudos de geometria plana, configurando um estudo de caso.

Abstract: Os frequentadores de academias, costumam associar o aumento de massa muscular ao consumo extra de proteina, ou seja, “quanto mais ingerir, mais rapido eu chegarei ao meu objetivo”, porem as necessidades proteicas de uma pessoa ativa, nao diferem muito de uma pessoa sedentaria, voce necessariamente precisara dar condicoes ao seu corpo para que este consiga recuperar e construir novos musculos, lembrando que quando praticamos atividade fisica nossa necessidade energetica aumenta e isso significa que voce precise comer um pouco mais que o normal, porem, comer mais nao significa comer qualquer coisa, e preciso comer as coisas certas, nos horarios certos (DAMILANO, 2006).
