TL;DR: In this paper, a qualitative review of two concepts: change readiness and resistance to change is presented, with the assumption of them being the opposite poles of the same continuum, and the authors argue that they should be looked at in conjunction, not on a bipolar continuum but as coexisting orthogonal dimensions.
Abstract: This paper is a qualitative review of two concepts: change readiness and resistance to change. We review their use, clarify their conceptual underpinnings, and address the assumption of them being the opposite poles of the same continuum. We juxtapose the two concepts and analyze their dimensions which commonly represent a source of ambiguity about their meaning, review their evolution, and compare them to similar concepts. We argue that resistance to change addresses two important aspects: resistance as behavior and resistance as attitude. We argue that because resistance to change and change readiness share attitudinal roots, they should be looked at in conjunction – not on a bipolar continuum but as coexisting orthogonal dimensions – to grasp the full complexity of change-related attitudes. We discuss implications and offer guidance for future research. DOI: 10.15458/85451.82

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the importance of intangibles for Croatian, Slovenian and Austrian hotel industry in the period 2004-2008 and proved that despite their growing significance, accentuated by recent research, there is no presence of major growth related to intangible assets in the hotel industry.
Abstract: The paper aims to provide evidence about the significance of intangibles in the hotel industry. The research investigates their importance for Croatian, Slovenian and Austrian hotel industry in the period 2004–2008. The results prove that despite their growing significance, accentuated by recent research, there is no presence of major growth related to intangible assets in the hotel industry. More detailed analysis further demonstrates that the hotel industry does not operate with a major share of intangibles in comparison with the largest domestic companies. Additional results point to the fact that larger companies possess a greater extent of intangibles in comparison with smaller companies. Therefore further research approaches could analyze the reasons that lead to these results and possible solutions that could stimulate the awareness of intangibles as a source of competitive advantages.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that economic policy advisers should use indexes of economic freedom with great caution, since they suffer from certain deficiencies with regard to their content, and present a detail political-economic analysis of the economic freedom, through three pairs of concepts that emphasize and express two different conceptions of understanding economic freedom.
Abstract: Authors of the indexes of economic freedom argue that economic freedom is a key link to prosperity and growth. An outline of empirical and theoretical investigation into the relationships between economic performance and institutional environment shows that economic freedom is an important precondition for economic prosperity. Countries that have more economic freedom also tend to have higher rates of economic growth and are more prosperous. Author however in the article argues that economic policy advisers should use indexes of economic freedom with great caution, since they suffer from certain deficiencies with regard to their content. An author presents a detail political-economic analysis of economic freedom, through three pairs of concepts that emphasize and express two different conceptions of understanding of economic freedom, in order to show why presented index of economic freedom cannot be sufficient indicators of economic freedom and prosperity.

TL;DR: The results show that differences between health care systems and in the ownership types of health care providers are not so large as to prevent the formation of a single European health care market, but would reveal the characteristics of health Care systems in such a way that citizens would be in favour of the public sector in health care and the national health service model.
Abstract: The following paper analyses the possibilities of forming a single European health care market. This aim is achieved by studying the impact of the differing organisational features of individual European health care systems on the efficiency of health care provision, by examining the relationship between the inputs used to produce health care services and the population’s health status in the analysed countries and by exploring the link between the quantity of health care services and the health status. The authors hypothesise that the efficiency and organisation of health care systems determine the possibilities of forming an efficient single European health care market. The empirical methodology employed in this paper is data envelopment analysis (DEA). The results show that differences between health care systems and in the ownership types of health care providers are not so large as to prevent the formation of a single European health care market. However, the formation of a single European health care market would reveal the characteristics of health care systems in such a way that citizens would be in favour of the public sector in health care and the national health service model.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors highlight age management within Slovenian enterprises from the viewpoint of older employees by finding out what influences older employees to decide "should I stay or should I go".
Abstract: The main aim of this research is to highlight age management within Slovenian enterprises from the viewpoint of older employees by finding out what influences older employees to decide “should I stay or should I go”. The empirical research methodology is based on mixed strategy of approaching organizations (employees), which means that the quantitative (factor analysis, cluster analysis, correlation, regression, descriptive statistics and frequency distributions) and qualitative parts (in-depth interviews analysis) of research were conducted simultaneously. The results of the research indicate that there are in fact two groups of older employees, which can be referred to as “susceptible” and “insusceptible” in terms of how the employer can affect their decisions. “The unsusceptible” have already decided to retire as soon as possible and they cannot be influenced by any employer measure. On the other hand, “the susceptible” employees are sensitive to employers’ measures aimed at prolonging their working lives. Besides, a regression analysis confirmed a statistically significant correlation between the inclination towards extending one’s employment period and the susceptibility to the employer measures. It can thus be concluded that, through age management measures, an employer has an impact on an extended employment period of older employees. However, employers should be interested primarily in those employees who are inclined towards extending their working lives.
