TL;DR: In this article, the authors examine quantitative and qualitative aspects of trade flows of the Western Balkan countries and assess appropriateness of EU trade policy arrangements with respect to the system of cumulation of rules of origin towards the WBCs in the past decade.
Abstract: This paper aims to examine quantitative and qualitative aspects of trade flows of the Western Balkan Countries (WBCs) and to assess appropriateness of EU trade policy arrangements with respect to the system of cumulation of rules of origin towards the WBCs in the past decade. Due to bilateral cumulation of origin rules under SAAs and autonomous trade preferences prior to march 2009 exporters in WBCs have been constrained when using inputs from other countries from the region, as only inputs sourced from EU have been accepted as local content granting preferential status in the EU markets. The estimations of income elasticities of import demand confirm that growth of intra-regional WBCs’ imports of intermediates was slower than growth of total intra-regional imports in response to GDP growth - most significantly for Macedonia and Albania, while the opposite was the case for WBCs’ imports from EU-15 and from new EU member. Further, the results based on gravity model estimations for Croatia suggest that lack of cumulation of rules of origin do indeed have significantly negative impact on bilateral trade flows, in particular for trade with intermediates and food and beverages. More specifically, where there is no cumulation of rules of origin between Croatia and importing country exports of industrial supplies are estimated to be 24% lower than expected levels in case of the diagonal cumulation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors study the current situation in the European Union and Slovenia regarding the implementation of the renewed Lisbon Strategy, focusing on establishing at what stage the EU is in the attainment of its goals and how successfully it has implemented the strategy at the regional level of the EU Member States.
Abstract: In 2000, the European Union set itself a target in the Lisbon Strategy to become the most dynamic, competitive and knowledge-based economy in the world in ten years, whereas during the mid-term review, which was held five years later, it redefined its two main objectives: creation of new and better jobs and achievement of stronger, lasting economic growth. This paper aims to study the current situation in the European Union and Slovenia regarding the implementation of the targets of the renewed Lisbon Strategy. The analysis focuses on establishing at what stage the EU is in the attainment of its goals and how successfully it has implemented the strategy at the regional level of the EU Member States. The basic tools in the analysis included the time-distance monitoring method and a presentation of the time lead or lag in the implementation of the selected Lisbon Strategy targets at the NUTS 2 regional level of the enlarged EU and Slovenia.

22 Jun 2009TL;DR: The main hypothesis of this article is that at the primary and secondary level of education the advantages of Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) on economic, educational and social field surpass its deficiencies so that the replacement of proprietary software would be reasonable.
Abstract: The main hypothesis of this article is that at the primary and secondary level of education the advantages of Free/Open Source Software (FOSS) on economic, educational and social field surpass its deficiencies so that the replacement of proprietary software would be reasonable. The most important findings of three internationally comparable survey researches are presented. The hypothesis is proven by results of the survey researches, scoring methodology and DEXi.

01 Jan 2014TL;DR: In this paper, a curvilinear relationship between time pressure individuals experience at work and their creativity is proposed, and the authors further suggest that time pressure, satisfaction with work-family balance, and leader-member exchange interact with one another and influence creativity at work.
Abstract: Contrasting views exist on how time pressure at work predicts creativity. Extending prior research on time pressure-creativity relationship, we draw on role theory and propose a curvilinear relationship between time pressure individuals experience at work and their creativity. We further suggest that time pressure, satisfaction with work-family balance (SWFB), and leader-member exchange (LMX) interact with one another and influence creativity at work. We obtained data from 251 employees of a knowledge-intensive organization. The results provided support for the curvilinear relationship and revealed a three-way interaction of time pressure x SWFB x LMX as joint predictors of employee creativity. We discuss the implications for theory, practice, and future research.

12 Sep 2017TL;DR: In this article, the authors set as: Have different Croatian tourism subjects recognized the relevance of the new technical solutions and integrated it in their business models to support the management activities and related leadership trends?
Abstract: The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) have been implemented in tourism as a supporting tool for different related activities. The main research question the authors set as: Have different Croatian tourism subjects recognized the relevance of the new technical solutions and integrated it in their business models to support the management activities and related leadership trends? In the theoretical part the concept of tourism management based on leadership trends and supported by ICT solutions is elaborated. In the empirical part general level of few tourism stakeholders' ICT usage is investigated. The research was conducted in spring 2016 and was based on 354 tourism stakeholder guests' perceptions. The contribution is practical as well as theoretical. An overview of the main actual ICT solutions available to tourism sector presents a practical implication of this research while developing framework appropriate for assessing the ICT as tourism management support stands as academic contribution.
