Error Analysis of Mixed THz-RF Wireless Systems

Abstract: In this letter, we introduce a novel mixed terahertz (THz)-radio frequency (RF) wireless system architecture, which can be used for backhaul/fronthaul applications, and we deliver the theoretical framework for its performance assessment. In more detail, after identifying the main design parameters and characteristics, we derive novel closed-form expressions for the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio cumulative density function, the outage probability and the symbol error rate, assuming that the system experiences the joint effect of fading and stochastic antenna misalignment. The derived analytical framework is verified through simulations and quantifies the system’s effectiveness and reliability. Finally, our results contribute to the extraction of useful design guidelines.

A platform for virtual museums with personalized content

Abstract: Presentation of content is an important aspect of today's virtual reality applications, especially in domains such as virtual museums. The large amount and variety of exhibits in such applications raise a need for adaptation and personalization of the environment. This paper presents a content personalization platform for Virtual Museums, which is based on a semantic description of content and on information implicitly collected about the users through their interactions with the museum. The proposed platform uses stereotypes to initialize user models, adapts user profiles dynamically and clusters users into similar interest groups. A science fiction museum has been set up as a case study for this platform and an evaluation has been carried out.

Marketing-Driven Factors Influencing Savers In The Hellenic Bank Market

Abstract: This paper studies the influencing factors on bank savings customers decisions regarding selection of a bank, in the Hellenic bank market. An empirical study was conducted on 811 bank customers in the greater Athens area. Results point to similar conclusions with prior studies conducted in the U.S. and Europe. Discussion of results also refer to different consumer perceptions of Greek public, private and foreign banks operating in Greece, as well as to the identification of reasons for switching a customers main bank.
