TL;DR: This review outlines the current state of the art in nanobodies, focusing on their structural features and properties, production, technology, and the potential for modulating immune functions and for targeting tumors, toxins, and microbes.
Abstract: The discovery of naturally occurring, heavy-chain only antibodies in Camelidae, and their further development into small recombinant nanobodies, presents attractive alternatives in drug delivery and imaging. Easily expressed in microorganisms and amenable to engineer- ing, nanobody derivatives are soluble, stable, versatile, and have unique refolding capacities, reduced aggregation tendencies, and high-target binding capabilities. This review outlines the current state of the art in nanobodies, focusing on their structural features and properties, production, technology, and the potential for modulating immune functions and for targeting tumors, toxins, and microbes.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated, analyzed and characterized the relation between the economic crisis and energy consumption in Greece, and found that inhabitants consumed less energy during the winter of 2011-2012 because of the rapid economic degradation.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors trace the evolution of FIDO protocols by identifying the technical characteristics and security requirements throughout the different versions while providing a comprehensive study on the different markets (e.g., digital banking, social networks, e-government, etc.), applicability, ease of use, extensibility and future security considerations.
Abstract: Unequivocally, a single man in possession of a strong password is not enough to solve the issue of security. Studies indicate that passwords have been subjected to various attacks, regardless of the applied protection mechanisms due to the human factor. The keystone for the adoption of more efficient authentication methods by the different markets is the trade-off between security and usability. To bridge the gap between user-friendly interfaces and advanced security features, the Fast Identity Online (FIDO) alliance defined several authentication protocols. Although FIDO's biometric-based authentication is not a novel concept, still daunts end users and developers, which may be a contributor factor obstructing FIDO's complete dominance of the digital authentication market. This paper traces the evolution of FIDO protocols, by identifying the technical characteristics and security requirements of the FIDO protocols throughout the different versions while providing a comprehensive study on the different markets (e.g., digital banking, social networks, e-government, etc.), applicability, ease of use, extensibility and future security considerations. From the analysis, we conclude that there is currently no dominant version of a FIDO protocol and more importantly, earlier FIDO protocols are still applicable to emerging vertical services.

TL;DR: In this article, the conceptual design and fabrication of a complex shape, readily assembled micro check valve using the two-photon polymerization technique was reported, which exhibited good dimensional accuracy when compared to the CAD-created valve design and the capability of an internal moving component to perform its intended function.
Abstract: This paper reports on the conceptual design and fabrication of a complex shape, readily assembled micro check valve using the two-photon polymerization technique. The material used for the fabrication of the valve is a zirconium containing organic–inorganic hybrid photosensitive sol-gel known to exhibit negligible distortion during photopolymerization. A preliminary computational fluid dynamics study has been carried out in order to evaluate the flow performance of the valve under blood pressures exhibited in healthy human veins. The fabricated micro-valves exhibit good dimensional accuracy when compared to the CAD-created valve design and the capability of an internal moving component to perform its intended function.

TL;DR: An intuitionistic point vector representation of trajectories that encompasses the underlying uncertainty and introduces an effective distance metric to cope with uncertainty is proposed.
Abstract: Knowledge discovery in Trajectory Databases (TD) is an emerging field which has recently gained great interest. On the other hand, the inherent presence of uncertainty in TD (e.g., due to GPS errors) has not been taken yet into account during the mining process. In this paper, we study the effect of uncertainty in TD clustering and introduce a three-step approach to deal with it. First, we propose an intuitionistic point vector representation of trajectories that encompasses the underlying uncertainty and introduce an effective distance metric to cope with uncertainty. Second, we devise CenTra, a novel algorithm which tackles the problem of discovering the Centroid Trajectory of a group of movements taking into advantage the local similarity between portions of trajectories. Third, we propose a variant of the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm, which embodies CenTra at its update procedure. Finally, we relax the vector representation of the Centroid Trajectories by introducing an algorithm that post-processes them, as such providing these mobility patterns to the analyst with a more intuitive representation. The experimental evaluation over synthetic and real world TD demonstrates the efficiency and effectiveness of our approach.
