06 Mar 2006TL;DR: An enhanced SBST strategy for on-line testing of complex pipelined embedded processors and a reliability analysis for optimal periodic testing of intermittent faults that minimizes the test cost incurred based on a two-state Markov model for the probabilistic modeling of intermittent fault.
Abstract: Today's nanometer technology trends have a very negative impact on the reliability of semiconductor products. Intermittent faults constitute the largest part of reliability failures that are manifested in the field during the semiconductor product operation. Since software-based self-test (SBST) has been proposed as an effective strategy for on-line testing of processors integrated in non-safety critical low-cost embedded system applications, optimal test period specification is becoming increasingly challenging. In this paper we first introduce a reliability analysis for optimal periodic testing of intermittent faults that minimizes the test cost incurred based on a two-state Markov model for the probabilistic modeling of intermittent faults. Then, we present for the first time an enhanced SBST strategy for on-line testing of complex pipelined embedded processors. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimal periodic SBST strategy by applying it to a fully-pipelined RISC embedded processor and providing experimental results

25 Mar 2021TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal reconfigurable intelligent surface placement in highly-directional millimeter wave links is discussed, where the authors present a novel system model that takes into account the relationship between the transmission beam footprint at RIS plane and the RIS size.
Abstract: This work discusses the optimal reconfigurable intelligent surface placement in highly-directional millimeter wave links In particular, we present a novel system model that takes into account the relationship between the transmission beam footprint at the RIS plane and the RIS size Subsequently, based on the model we derive the end-to-end expression of the received signal power and, furthermore, provide approximate closed-form expressions in the case that the RIS size is either much smaller or at least equal to the transmission beam footprint Moreover, building upon the expressions, we derive the optimal RIS placement that maximizes the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio Finally, we substantiate the analytical findings by means of simulations, which reveal important trends regarding the optimal RIS placement according to the system parameters

TL;DR: In this article, the influence of the enterprise type on the purchasing decision process within selected product types and phases by using analysis of variance on data from Greek manufacturing and utility enterprises was examined.
Abstract: This article reports on the influence of the enterprise type on the purchasing decision process within selected product types and phases by using analysis of variance on data from Greek manufacturing and utility enterprises Our study examined the influence of enterprise type on four parameters of the purchasing decision process, across two different product types and four phases of the purchasing process The results suggested that all but one parameter varied considerably among the different types of enterprises, and that companies adopt an appropriate structural configuration, which fits to the attributes of the purchased items and the mission of the enterprises

TL;DR: This article applied the new panel convergence methodology developed by Phillips and Sul (2007a) on 13 financial development indices from the World Bank's Financial Development and Structure database, to test for financial system convergence across a large set of industrial and developing countries.
Abstract: We apply the new panel convergence methodology developed by Phillips and Sul (2007a) on 13 financial development indices from the World Bank’s Financial Development and Structure database, to test for financial system convergence across a large set of industrial and developing countries Our results indicate that there is no convergence for either the financial systems as a whole or their main segments Far from decreasing, the differences in the financial systems of the sample countries seemingly persist or even increase over timeThese differences are more pronounced for the stock market segment and private credit by banks, and less so for the bond market segment and bank deposits Moreover, the convergent clubs for most indices
transcend the distinction industrial vs developing countries, as well as the distinction bank-based vs capital market-based financial systems
