TL;DR: Support for energy efficient single-hop communications in Environmental Monitoring Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is addressed and the design implementation and evaluation of the Power and Reliability Aware Protocol (PoRAP) which can minimize energy consumption whilst preserving reliability is presented.
Abstract: This paper addresses support for energy efficient single-hop communications in Environmental Monitoring Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). The main contributions are twofold firstly; the identification of scenarios where single hop communication, between multiple sensors and a base station is both feasible and offers benefits with respect to power preservation. Secondly, the design implementation and evaluation of the Power and Reliability Aware Protocol (PoRAP) which can minimize energy consumption whilst preserving reliability is presented. PoRAP is a measurement based adaptive protocol that provides probabilistic reliability. It uses measurements of Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) to identify when the transmission power can be decreased without reducing the Packet Reception Rate (PRR). Consequently, reduced power can often be used for transmission. In PoRAP source transmission is scheduled and radios only start for the reception of control packets and data transmissions. The scheduling reduces the likely hood of collisions and minimizes idle listening. The required duty cycle is reduced further by tracking clock drift between sensors and base stations. In these ways PoRAP reduces the power required for single hop communication between a sensor and its base station.

TL;DR: The proposed method is another tool that can be used for classifying signal patterns, as an alternative to time/frequency analyses, and yields outstanding performance on the average classification accuracy for 3‐class problems mainly for detection of seizure‐free interval and seizure signals.

TL;DR: In this paper, a semester-long experimental study aimed at investigating the effects of a PBL approach on the English oral language performances of the English majors studying in one of the private universities in Bangkok.
Abstract: This is a semester-long experimental study aimed at investigating the effects of a PBL (Problembased Learning) approach on the English oral language performances of the English majors studying in one of the private universities in Bangkok. For the purpose of the study, a systematic PBL model for English language classrooms was implemented. Furthermore, the subjects’ opinions towards learning with the PBL approach were also explored through the use of questionnaires and interviews. The findings showed that the mean scores of the posttest were significantly higher than those of the pretest. Their English oral performances were more fluent and accurate. Moreover, they used varied sentence structures in addition to simple sentences. Additionally, the subjects’ opinions towards learning with the PBL approach were discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, a photovoltaic (PV) water pumping system with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) by using the optimum slip angle control of the three phase induction motor pump is presented.
Abstract: The objective of this paper presents the photovoltaic (PV) water pumping system with maximum power point tracking (MPPT) by using the optimum slip angle control of the three phase induction motor pump. A field oriented control principle is used in control by changing a magnetizing current (Ids) follow a torque producing current (Iqs) in equality ratio resulting to the ratio of currents are constant. The efficiency of the motor pump is better than the magnetizing current constant. An adjustment of the magnetizing current follows light insolation that means the magnetic flux of motor pump are controlled, so the core loss are reduced. The experiment results prove the concept of the constant ratio control between Ids and Iqs in order to optimum slip that the efficient of the water pumping system supplied by the photovoltaic arrays are increased. The system consume the maximum power from PV every light intensity level.

TL;DR: The importance of collaborative research and the growing trend of using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) as a mediator of spatial knowledge, social, and intellectual practice are presented.
Abstract: This article presents the importance of collaborative research and the growing trend of using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) as a mediator of spatial knowledge, social, and intellectual practice. Collaborative research projects generally involve researchers from multiple disciplines either in the same institution or between institutions toperform research. It is driven by complex problems requiring multidisciplinary solutions and the increased visibility provided by cross disciplinary research. With the rapid advancement of GIS, there is a substantial increase in the use of dynamic maps and advanced spatial functionsfor multidisciplinary research, such as environmental and urban planning. The distributed GIServices is considered as an appropriate infrastructure for developing a pervasive tool that supports data integration, data sharing, and data visualization from anywhere and anytime. The enabling technologies for distributed GIServices are discussed and three existing platforms related to web-based GIS that supports collaborative research: WorldMap, MapStory, and WISERD are illustrated.
