TL;DR: A New Mixed Integer Programming (NMIP) is proposed for solving facility layout problem (FLP) to eliminate infeasibility and show the efficiency of this model.
Abstract: This paper proposes a New Mixed Integer Programming (NMIP) for solving facility layout problem (FLP). The formulation is extensively tested on problems from literature to minimize material handling cost when addresses on the shop floor. Every department and shop floor in tested problem were fixed dimension of length and width. Classic Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) solves FLP with fixed layout area and preset each department’s lower-upper limit of length and width. As a result, there might be some departments with 5-10% area less than initial layout design requirements which leads to problem in design and construction process. It is infeasible to address the department on the actual shop floor thus adjustment of result from MIP is required. The main purpose of NMIP is to eliminate such infeasibility and show the efficiency of this model. Keywords: mixed integer programing, facility layout design, facility layout problem, heuristics

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used pseudo-first and -second order equations to test the sorption of spent yeast in sodium alginate beads, and found that the initial sorption rate increased from 0.014 to 0.037 mg/g min as the initial concentration of Cu(II) was varied from 20 to 80 ppm.
Abstract: Spent yeast from the brewing industry was immobilized with sodium alginate and used in a study on biosorption of Cu(II). Kinetic models were developed using pseudo-first and -second order equations and tested for the sorption of Cu(II). The results showed that the sorption of Cu(II) onto immobilized spent yeast in sodium alginate beads could be described by a pseudo-second order model, which had high correlation coefficients (r 2 ). The rate constant (k2) and the initial sorption rate (h) were calculated. The values of the rate constants were found to decrease from 0.208 to 0.037 g/mg min with an increase in the initial concentration of Cu(II) from 20 to 80 ppm. The initial sorption rate increased from 0.014 to 0.037 mg/g min as the initial concentration of Cu(II) was varied from 20 to 80 ppm. The observed dependence of the sorption rate on the initial concentration of Cu(II) indicated that the removal of Cu(II) was more rapid when the initial concentration of the solution was high.

TL;DR: Some ontological trends that support the growing domain of online tourism are discussed, which can assist organization, browsing, parametric search, and in general, more intelligent access to online information and services.
Abstract: The Internet is already the primary source of tourist destination information for travelers. Digital business is changed from the recommended usual business using the Internet and e-commerce. E-tourism Software adapted from original e-commerce, ready for creating online reservation/booking. It is the total solution of instant e-commerce for travel 24 hour. E-tourism is a perfect candidate for Semantic Web because it is information-based and depends on the World Wide Web, both as a means of marketing and transaction channel. Ontologies can assist organization, browsing, parametric search, and in general, more intelligent access to online information and services. Ontology-based information retrieval makes it possible to handle the known challenges in connection with Web-based information systems in a more efficient way. This paper discusses some ontological trends that support the growing domain of online tourism. The first part introduces the e-tourism implementation and using ontologies in e-tourism. The second part describes fundamental background of ontologies; definition, modeling, language and etc. The third part discusses the example concepts of existing e-tourism using ontologies and it is a briefly summary on the important e-tourism ontologies. Finally, the last part is the conclusion.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a preventive maintenance (PM) program for fleet owners to improve the productivity of vehicles, equipment, facilities, and personnel by developing with the understanding that "prevention is better than cure".
Abstract: Fleet maintenance management is geared towards fleet owners who operate a sizable fleet of vehicles and to whom the maintenance and management of these assets is of critical importance. Preventive maintenance (PM) leads to more efficient operations and therefore substantial cost-savings and reduced pollution. A well designed PM program can extend the life of vehicles and equipment and reduce costly repairs. This program provides alert information necessary to track and schedule preventive maintenance that allows fleet owners to improve the productivity of vehicles, equipment, facilities, and personnel. Moreover, the capacity of the fleet owners is enhanced by developing with the understanding that "prevention is better than cure".

TL;DR: This paper investigated the role of spillovers for the profitability of input-price contracts in a vertically related industry and showed that spillovers influence the relative magnitude of the main forces operating in the model, which can either reinforce oralter some of the predictions.
Abstract: We reconsider Banerjee and Lin [International Journal of Industrial Organization, 2003] by investigating the role of spillovers (or informational flows) for the profitability of input-price contracts in a vertically related industry. We showthat spillovers influence the relative magnitude of the main forces operating in the model, which can either reinforce oralter some of the predictions
