TL;DR: In this article, a computational framework for probabilistic modeling of the fatigue damage accumulation of short to medium span bridges under actual traffic loading was presented, where stochastic truck-load models were simulated based on site-specific weigh-in-motion measurements.
Abstract: Bridges are vulnerable to the fatigue damage accumulation caused by traffic loading over the service period. A continuous growth in both the vehicle weight and the traffic volume may cause a safety hazard to existing bridges. This study presented a computational framework for probabilistic modeling of the fatigue damage accumulation of short to medium span bridges under actual traffic loading. Stochastic truck-load models were simulated based on site-specific weigh-in-motion measurements. A response surface method was utilized to substitute the time-consuming finite element model for an efficient computation. A case study of a simply supported bridge demonstrated the effectiveness of the computational framework. Numerical results show that the simulated fatigue stress spectrum captures the probability density functions of the heavy traffic loading. The equivalent fatigue stress range increases mostly linearly in the good road roughness condition with the growth of the gross vehicle weight. The vehicle typ...

TL;DR: Three improved false matches elimination algorithms based on distance from epipole to epipolar line is proposed and this algorithm can also solve the real-time calibration of the shrink-amplify center for zooming images.
Abstract: Feature matching is one of the most important steps in the location technology of zooming images. According to the scale-invariant feature transform matching algorithm, several improved false matches elimination algorithms are proposed and compared in this article. The key role of the feature matching algorithm and false matches elimination in the ranging technology of zooming images is discussed and addressed. Second, false matches are eliminated by the proposed approach based on geometry constraint in zooming images with a higher accuracy. Third, false matches are removed by an elimination algorithm based on properties of the scale-invariant feature transform features. Finally, an iterative false matches elimination algorithm based on distance from epipole to epipolar line is proposed and this algorithm can also solve the...

TL;DR: A review of multidimensional prognostic models that have been applied to predict the failures of rotating machinery with multiple sensors can be found in this article, where the authors provide a guide for researchers considering prognosis options for multi-sensor rotating equipment.
Abstract: Determining prognosis for rotating machinery could potentially reduce maintenance costs and improve safety and availability. Complex rotating machines are usually equipped with multiple sensors, which enable the development of multidimensional prognostic models. By considering the possible synergy among different sensor signals, multivariate models may provide more accurate prognosis than those using single-source information. Consequently, numerous research papers focusing on the theoretical considerations and practical implementations of multivariate prognostic models have been published in the last decade. However, only a limited number of review papers have been written on the subject. This article focuses on multidimensional prognostic models that have been applied to predict the failures of rotating machinery with multiple sensors. The theory and basic functioning of these techniques, their relative merits and drawbacks and how these models have been used to predict the remnant life of a machine are discussed in detail. Furthermore, this article summarizes the rotating machines to which these models have been applied and discusses future research challenges. The authors also provide seven evaluation criteria that can be used to compare the reviewed techniques. By reviewing the models reported in the literature, this article provides a guide for researchers considering prognosis options for multi-sensor rotating equipment.

Abstract: Bridges are one of the most important infrastructure systems that provide public and economic bases for humankind. It is also widely known that bridges are exposed to a variety of flood-related risk factors such as bridge scour, structural deterioration, and debris accumulation, which can cause structural damage and even failure of bridges through a variety of failure modes. However, flood fragility has not received as much attention as seismic fragility despite the significant amount of damage and costs resulting from flood hazards. There have been few research efforts to estimate the flood fragility of bridges considering various flood-related factors and the corresponding failure modes. Therefore, this study proposes a new approach for bridge flood fragility analysis. To obtain accurate flood fragility estimates, reliability analysis is performed in conjunction with finite element analysis, which can sophisticatedly simulate the structural response of a bridge under a flood by accounting for flood-rela...
