A mixed variational framework for higher-order unified gradient elasticity

TLDR
In this paper, a higher-order unified gradient elasticity theory is conceived in a mixed variational framework based on suitable functional space of kinetic test fields, and the intrinsic form of the differential and boundary conditions of equilibrium along with the constitutive laws is consistently established.

A nonlocal surface theory for surface–bulk interactions and its application to mechanics of nanobeams

TL;DR: In this paper , a nonlocal surface theory is proposed for interactions between surface and bulk media of nanostructures, which is generalized to account for nonlocal contribution and reception of surface, dividing the whole landscape of nonlocal interactions into four parts of contributions.

TE-GDQE implementation to investigate the vibration of FG composite conical shells considering a frequency controller solid ring

TL;DR: In this paper , the free vibration response of a conical system supported by an intermediate solid ring is investigated, where the ingredients of the shell are considered a polymer reinforced with graphene platelets (GPLs).

Buckling mode transition in nonlinear strain gradient-based stability behavior of axial-thermal-electrical loaded FG piezoelectric cylindrical panels at microscale

TL;DR: In this article , the micro-structural-dependent nonlinear stability characteristics of functionally graded (FG) piezoelectric cylindrical micropanels under combinations of axial mechanical load with external electric actuation and temperature are studied.

Dynamic instability of magnetically embedded functionally graded porous nanobeams using the strain gradient theory

TL;DR: In this paper , a finite element modeling combined with the SGT and the refined higher-order shear deformation beam theory is developed to study the dynamic instability of magnetically embedded functionally graded porous (FGP) nanobeams.

Free transverse vibrations of nanobeams with multiple cracks

TL;DR: In this article , a nonlocal model is formulated to study the size-dependent free transverse vibrations of nanobeams with arbitrary numbers of cracks, and the effect of the crack is modeled by introducing discontinuities in the slope and transverse displacement at the cracked cross-section, proportional to the bending moment and the shear force transmitted through it.

A phenomenological theory for strain gradient effects in plasticity

TL;DR: In this paper, a strain gradient theory of plasticity is introduced, based on the notion of statistically stored and geometrically necessary dislocations, which fits within the general framework of couple stress theory and involves a single material length scale l.
