TLDR
The LipiFlow System was significantly more effective than the iHeat Warm Compress for adults with meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eye symptoms and these results support its safety and effectiveness in the treatment of MGD and Dry eye symptoms.Abstract:
PurposeTo evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the LipiFlow System compared to the iHeat Warm Compress (WC) for adults with meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).MethodsThis was a non-significant risk, prospective, open-label, randomized, crossover multicenter clinical trial. TL;DR: It became clear that many of the treatments available for the management of dry eye disease lack the necessary Level 1 evidence to support their recommendation, often due to a lack of appropriate masking, randomization or controls and in some cases due to issues with selection bias or inadequate sample size.

TL;DR: This report presents future directions to address iatrogenic DED, including the need for more in-depth epidemiological studies about the risk factors, development of less toxic medications and preservatives, as well as new techniques for less invasive eye surgeries.

TL;DR: Management guidelines for dry eye associated with Sjögren's disease are presented and tear supplementation and stabilization, control of inflammation of the lacrimal glands and ocular surface, and possible stimulation of tear production are treatment options that are used according to the character and severity of dry eye disease.

TL;DR: Diseases responsible for inadequately explained chronic eye pain can take on new meanings that may clarify long-standing enigmas and point to new approaches for developing preventive, symptomatic and disease-modifying interventions for these currently refractory disorders.

Analysis of Cytokine Levels in Tears and Clinical Correlations After Intense Pulsed Light Treating Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.
TL;DR: The study results suggest that IPL can significantly reduce inflammatory markers in tears of patients suffering with DED owing to MGD after IPL treatment, and the reduction of the inflammatory factors is consistent with the improvement of partial clinical symptoms and signs.
