Journal ArticleDOI

Slow rotation of the Sun's interior

TL;DR: In this article, the rotational splitting of degenerate solar oscillation modes is investigated. But the rotations of the rotally split modes are not well constrained at the surface of the Sun.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation of low-order acoustic solar oscillations over the solar cycle

TL;DR: In this paper, the frequencies of the lowest-order (l≤2) modes have varied over the period of observation (1977-88) in a manner that is correlated with solar activity (as measured by sunspot number).
Journal ArticleDOI

Solar structure from global studies of the 5-minute oscillation

TL;DR: In this article, high sensitivity Doppier spectroscopy of integral sunlight in the 769.9 nm line of neutral potassium reveals several equally spaced lines of Q > 1,000 centred on the well known period of 5 min.
Journal ArticleDOI

Using the Sun to estimate Earth-like planets detection capabilities - I. Impact of cold spots

TL;DR: In this paper, the photometric contribution of spots and plages to the radial velocity (RV) signal partially balance each other out, so that the residual signal is comparable to the spot signal.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solar p-Mode Frequencies over Three Solar Cycles

TL;DR: In this article, the mean frequency shifts of low-degree p-modes have been extracted over a period spanning solar cycles 21-23, and two methods of analysis are used to extract the frequency shifts: one method uses results on fitted frequencies of individual modes, which are then averaged to give mean frequency shift; the other method uses cross-correlations of power frequency spectra made from subsets of the data shifted in time.
