Platinum-Like Behavior of Tungsten Carbide in Surface Catalysis

TL;DR: Tungsten carbide catalyzes the formation of water from hydrogen and oxygen at room temperature, the reduction of tungsten trioxide by hydrogen in the presence of water, and the isomerization of 2,2-dimethylpropane to 2-methylbutane.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogen Sensors - A review

TL;DR: There are an immense number of sensors reported in the literature for hydrogen detection and in this article these sensors are classified into eight different operating principles, such as measuring range, sensitivity, selectivity and response time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent developments in transition metal carbides and nitrides as hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts

TL;DR: This review discusses systematically the recent progress in the development of group IV-VI metal carbides and nitrides toward the hydrogen evolution reaction, and offers an outlook on the challenges in designing future HER electrocatalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation and catalytic properties of transition metal carbides and nitrides

TL;DR: Interstitial alloys are formed by the incorporation of carbon, nitrogen and oxygen into the lattices of early transition metals to produce a class of compounds with metallic character as mentioned in this paper. The crystal structure of the materials is similar to that of the metals, with the metal atoms usually forming closed-packed lattices.

Oxidation of Hydrogen on a Passive Platinum Electrode

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the rate of oxidation of molecular hydrogen decreases at a high-activity Pt electrode in 1M H2SO4 under potentiostatic, steady-state conditions and at anodic potentials above 0.7 V (NHE).
