Abstract
Icosahedral quasi-crystals with coercivity at room temperature are found in rapidly solidified Al-Ge-Mn and Al-Cu-Ge-Mn alloys with compositions ranging form 20 to 25 at%Ge, 22.5 to 25%Mn and 0 to 10%Cu. The highest Curie temperature is 533 K for Al52.5Ge22.5Mu25 and 467 K for Al40Cu10Ge25Mn25. The magnetization ( σ20) of the Al-Ge-Mn alloys in a field of 20 kOe at room temperature increases from 0.2 to 0.5 emu/g with increasing Ge and Mn contents and the coercivity (Hc) is in the range of 0.7 to 1.1 kOe. The replacement of Al by 10%Cu is found to bring about significant increases of σ20 and Hc to 3.9 emu/g and 1.8 kOe.

Crystal structure of aluminum germanium manganese (72.0:26.3:57.7), Al72.0Ge26.3Mn57.7

TL;DR: In this article, a needle-like crystal was picked up from a master ingot with nominal composition of Al40Mn35Ge25, which was prepared by arc-melting the mixture of pure Al, Mn and Ge in an argon atmosphere.

Structure of rapidly quenched Al-Mn.

TL;DR: In this paper, the electron-diffraction pattern shows icosahedral symmetry and peaks in the x-ray diffraction pattern can be indexed to a mixture of fcc Al and a phase whose reciprocal lattice is described by a sum of icoshedral vectors.

Electronic properties of quasicrystals an experimental review

TL;DR: In this paper, the electronic properties of a large number of icosahedral-crystal systems have been studied experimentally, and the importance of sample quality to the exposition of intrinsic properties is emphasized, particularly for systems with high resistivities.

Anisotropic magnetic property of single-grained Al68Pd23Mn9 icosahedral quasicrystals

TL;DR: In this article, an anisotropy associated with the directional order in the icosahedral phase was found for the first time in the nonlinear region of the magnetization-vs-magnetic-field curve of the single-grained quasicrystal along 5-, 3-, and 2-fold axes below 40 K.
