TLDR
In this article, an innovative process based on using the Hilbert transform of the impulse response evaluated from the two signals is proposed to estimate the time delay between two received signals, where a pure delay is transformed in a hyperbola whose vertical asymptote is located at a time yielding to the unknown shift in time.

Optimal recovery of the elasticity tensor of general anisotropic materials from ultrasonic velocity data

TL;DR: In this paper, an ultrasonic wave approach is presented for the optimal identification of the 21 independent elasticity constants of the most general linear homogeneous anisotropic elastic solid from wave speed measurements of obliquely incident ultrasonic bulk waves.

Inelastic behaviour of ceramic-matrix composites

TL;DR: In this paper, a methodology for the formulation and identification of the constitutive laws of ceramic-matrix composites is presented, which relies on an anisotropic damage evaluation that accurately separates the effects of the various damage mechanisms on the non-linear behaviour.

Damage induced anisotropy and stiffness reduction evaluation in composite materials using ultrasonic wave transmission

TL;DR: In this article, an approach focused on ultrasonic immersion measurements is proposed to extract the effective stiffness tensors for composites having different level of anisotropic mechanical behavior, and the developed approach has been experimentally validated through several examples of undamaged and damaged materials.

Accurate and Fast Demodulation Algorithm for Multipeak FBG Reflection Spectra Using a Combination of Cross Correlation and Hilbert Transformation

TL;DR: In this paper, a combined cross correlation and Hilbert transform-based demodulation algorithm for tracking the wavelength shifts of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) having a multiple peak reflection spectrum is presented.

Estimating ultrasonic time-of-flight through echo signal envelope and modified Gauss Newton method

TL;DR: In this paper, a novel method for ultrasonic time-of-flight (TOF) estimation through envelope is proposed, where wavelet denoising technique is applied to the noisy echo to improve the estimation accuracy.

On the Theory of Dispersion of X-Rays

TL;DR: In this article, a general formula for the index of refraction in terms of the atomic absorption coefficient α and the critical frequencies is given, from the condition, experimentally verified, that the electrons in the atom for impressed frequencies, large compared to their natural frequencies, shall act like free electrons as far as the index is concerned, a relation is obtained for α.

Kramers–Kronig relationship between ultrasonic attenuation and phase velocity

TL;DR: In this paper, Kramers-Kronig relations linking attenuation and dispersion are presented for a linear acoustic system and approximate, nearly local expressions relating the ultrasonic attenuation at a specific frequency to the local frequency derivative of the phase velocity are derived.

Measurement of the elastic constants of fibre composites by ultrasonics

TL;DR: In this article, a method of measuring the elastic constants of fiber reinforced composites using ultrasonic pulse techniques is described, which enables measurement of both longitudinal and shear wave velocities over a wide range of direction.
