Assessment of Aircraft Surface Heat Exchanger Potential
TL;DR: In this paper, the heat sink potential of the aircraft surface is evaluated in order to avoid excessive drag from heat exchangers, and the results show that surface heat exchanger can provide cooling power in the same order of magnitude as the waste heat expected from hybrid electric drive trains for all sizes of considered aircraft.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Review of Thermal Designs for Improving Power Density in Electrical Machines
TL;DR: In this article, a variety of thermal designs are comprehensively reviewed and critically discussed according to different cooling positions, and an analysis of suitable thermal designs for different applications of electrical machines in more electric aircraft is presented.

Moving towards a more electric aircraft
TL;DR: In this article, the concept of a more electric aircraft (MEA) is described, which involves removing the need for on-engine hydraulic power generation and bleed air off-takes, and increasing use of power electronics in the starter/generation system of the main engine.
