Multiscale thermoelastic analysis of random heterogeneous materials. Part I: Microstructure characterization and homogenization of material properties
Senthil S. Vel,Andrew J. Goupee +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, realistic random microstructures are generated for computational analyses using random morphology description functions (RMDFs) for modeling heterogeneous materials with random microstructure and understanding their thermomechanical properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diffusion in turbulence
TL;DR: In this article, the authors prove long time diffusive behavior (homogenization) for convection-diffusion in a turbulent flow that it is incompressible and has a stationary and square integrable stream matrix.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamic behaviour of porous media saturated by a viscoelastic fluid. Application to bituminous concretes
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors deal with the acoustics of porous media saturated by an incompressible viscous or viscoelastic fluid and determine the macroscopically equivalent medium by using the homogenization method for periodic structures.

Fick's Second Law Transformed: One Path to Cloaking in Mass Diffusion
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors adapt the concept of transformational thermodynamics, whereby the flux of temperature is controlled via anisotropic heterogeneous diffusivity, for the diffusion and transport of mass concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Homogenization of a reaction–diffusion system modeling sulfate corrosion of concrete in locally periodic perforated domains
TL;DR: In this paper, a reaction-diffusion system for concrete corrosion in sewer pipes is discussed. But the system is coupled, semi-linear, and partially dissipative. And it is shown that the averaged system contains additional terms appearing due to the deviation of the assumed geometry from a purely periodic distribution of perforations for two relevant parameter regimes.

An Introduction To Probability Theory And Its Applications
TL;DR: A First Course in Probability (8th ed.) by S. Ross is a lively text that covers the basic ideas of probability theory including those needed in statistics.

Théorie des distributions
TL;DR: The merite as discussed by the authors is a date marque une date dans le progres des mathematiques and de la physique en levant l'ambiguite que constituait le succes des methodes de calcul symbolique aupres des physiciens and l'inacceptabilite de leurs formules au regard de la rigueur mathematiques.
