The use of bayesian techniques for image restoration under conditions of partial coherence in both CTEM and STEM is investigated and the effect of coherence and noise on the object restorability is assessed.
Abstract
The use of bayesian techniques for image restoration under conditions of partial coherence in both CTEM and STEM is investigated. Amplitude or phase objects are considered, assuming only a single intensity measurement. The weak-phase approximation is not used. An iterative algorithm for determining the maximum a posteriori probability restored image is determined by using the steepest ascent method. The effect of coherence and noise on the object restorability is assessed.

Comparison of optical predetection processing and postdetection linear processing for partially coherent image estimation

TL;DR: In this article, a comparison between the effectiveness of optical predetection processing and that of electronic post-detection filtering for image-estimation applications is made, and it is shown that optical preprocessing is more effective than post detection when the object illumination is coherent or nearly coherent, whereas the reverse is true for incoherent illumination.

Bayesian filtering of speckled images

TL;DR: Speckle noise arises in imaging systems that use coherent or partially coherent illumination and it is demonstrated that such noise may be reduced by use of bayesian filters.

Restoration of bilinearly distorted images. 3: Constrained least-squares method.

TL;DR: A constrained least-squares solution based on a second difference smoothing measure is obtained for images which are distorted by a bilinear (quadratic and with nonzero memory) system in the presence of additive signal-independent noise.
