TLDR
Comparative studies with other coastal regions indicate considerable enrichment of DTMs & TTMs in sediments as well as in various organs of fish samples, which indicates that metals are absorbed onto the different organs, which is endorsed by the calculated values of bioaccumulation factor (BAFs) in fishes.About:

Studies on seasonal pollution of heavy metals in water, sediment, fish and oyster from the Meiliang Bay of Taihu Lake in China
TL;DR: Comparative studies with seasonal pollution of heavy metals in Meiliang Bay of Lake Taihu regions indicate considerable heavy metal enrichment in water, sediments as well as in various organs of fish and oyster.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bioaccumulation of heavy metals in fish species from the Meiliang Bay, Taihu Lake, China
Sivakumar Rajeshkumar,Xiaoyu Li +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the bioaccumulation of heavy metals (Cr, Cu, Cd, Pb) content were determined in freshwater edible fishes Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus and Pelteobagrus fluvidraco, which were caught from the Meiliang Bay, Taihu Lake, a large, shallow and eutrophic lake of China.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heavy metals in fish tissues/stomach contents in four marine wild commercially valuable fish species from the western continental shelf of South China Sea
TL;DR: Concentrations of heavy metals in all species were below their acceptable daily upper limit, suggesting human consumption of these wild fish species may be safe, with health risk assessment based on the target hazard quotients (THQ) and total THQ, indicating no significant adverse health effects with consumption.

Trace metals in the central and southern North Sea
TL;DR: In this article, both dissolved and particulate trace metals (Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn) were measured on samples collected simultaneously in the central and southern North Sea (below 56°N) during four cruises covering the seasonal cycle.

The continental crust: Its composition and evolution
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the composition of the present upper crust and deal with possible compositions for the total crust and the inferred composition of lower crust, and the question of the uniformity of crustal composition throughout geological time is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fish bioaccumulation and biomarkers in environmental risk assessment: a review
TL;DR: There is little doubt that measurements of bioaccumulation and biomarker responses in fish from contaminated sites offer great promises for providing information that can contribute to environmental monitoring programs designed for various aspects of ERA.

Heavy metals in soils
TL;DR: In this article, the origin of heavy metals in soils is discussed, and methods of analysis for heavy metal analysis in soils are presented, as well as the potential environment significance of less abundant elements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of adverse biological effects within ranges of chemical concentrations in marine and estuarine sediments
TL;DR: In this article, matching biological and chemical data were compiled from numerous modeling, laboratory, and field studies performed in marine and estuarine sediments, and two guideline values (an effects range low and an effects range median) were determined for nine trace metals, total PCBs, two pesticides, 13 polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and three classes of PAHs.
Book
Metal pollution in the aquatic environment
TL;DR: This significant book provides not only an introduction to the dynamics of aquatic chem istries but also identifies those materials that jeopardize the resources of both the marine and fluvial domains.
