TLDR
The main reason for unintentional carbon monoxide-related deaths in Vienna between 1984 and 1993 was flueless gas-fueled water heating appliances, overused especially by old people during the cold period of the year, and these programs should especially target the elderly.

Mitochondrial Cytochrome c Oxidase Inhibition during Acute Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

TL;DR: The results suggest that mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase is also a target site in human acute CO poisoning, and its extended and generalized inhibition could explain the persistence of different symptoms after the normalization of HbCO levels.

Asphyxial deaths: a retrospective study and review of the literature.

TL;DR: Although it was varying according to the methods of asphyxiation, suicide was found to be the manner of death in the majority of the cases.

Carbon monoxide poisoning as a cause of death in Wuhan, China: a retrospective six-year epidemiological study (2009-2014)

TL;DR: This arguably is the first comprehensive study to provide an overall analysis of CO poisoning deaths that sampled the mainland Chinese population for a six-year period.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon Monoxide and Fire Toxicity: A Review and Analysis of Recent Work

TL;DR: An analysis of the reasons for and the significance of why people may die from what some think to be "low" levels of carbon monoxide without implicating other toxic agents is presented.

Spectrophotometric evaluation of postmortem lividity.

TL;DR: To answer the question if objective measuring methods allow differentiation of hypostasis with regard to cold exposition or carbon monoxide poisoning, spectrophotometric measurements were performed and the colorimetric measures as well as the spectral reflectance curves of the postmortem lividity were determined.

Unintentional carbon monoxide-related deaths in the United States, 1979 through 1988.

TL;DR: The rate of unintentional death from carbon monoxide poisoning is decreasing, and may be attributable to improvements in automobile pollution control systems and improved safety of cooking and heating appliances.
Journal ArticleDOI

Management of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

TL;DR: Treatment is directed toward the relief of tissue hypoxia and the removal of CO from the body, and Administration of normobaric 100 percent oxygen is the therapy of choice for most cases, while hyperbaric oxygen therapy is reserved for severe poisonings.

Carbon monoxide poisoning

Tim Meredith, +1 more
- 09 Jan 1988 -
TL;DR: Although mortality from carbon monoxide poisoning has fallen since natural gas was substituted for coal gas, about 1000 people die annually in England and Wales from this gas.
