TLDR
A comparison of China's regulatory limits indicated that PCBs in rivers and coastal water may pose potential human health risk and Occurrence of DDTs in some rivers of China may also pose health risk to humans using the regulatory limits ofDDTs recommended by the European Union.

Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) in soils and groundwater of a U.S. metropolitan area: Migration and implications for human exposure

TL;DR: The results suggest that the transport of PFOS and PFOA is retarded in the vadose zone, but not in the aquifer, and the groundwater contamination ofPFOS andPFOA often follows their release to surface soils by years, if not decades; and the Aquifer can be a major source of exposure for communities living near point sources.

Pesticide levels and environmental risk in aquatic environments in China--A review.

TL;DR: The present review aims to provide an overview of studies on pesticides in aquatic environments in China, revealing that the most studied areas in China are the most populated and the most developed economically and that themost frequently studied pesticides are DDT and HCH.

Present applications of titanium dioxide for the photocatalytic removal of pollutants from water: A review.

TL;DR: This study thoroughly scrutinizes recent applications of titanium dioxide and its modified forms as photocatalytic materials in the removal and control of several classes of water pollutants as reported in literature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanisms for removal of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) from drinking water by conventional and enhanced coagulation

TL;DR: The results suggest that the primary PFOS/PFOA removal mechanism is adsorption to fine Al hydroxide flocs freshly formed during the initial stage of coagulation; increasing flocculation time from 2 to 90 min could not further improve PFOS and PFOA removals.

Metal concentrations in surface water and sediments from Pardo River, Brazil: human health risks.

TL;DR: Environmental monitoring studies are required not only to assure that the current state of pollution of Pardo River does not mean a risk for the riverside population, but also to assess the potential trends in the environmental levels of those elements.

Perfluoroalkyl Acids: A Review of Monitoring and Toxicological Findings

TL;DR: An overview of the recent advances in the toxicology and mode of action for PFAAs, and of the monitoring data now available for the environment, wildlife, and humans is provided.

Towards a global historical emission inventory for selected PCB congeners--a mass balance approach. 1. Global production and consumption.

TL;DR: The methodology, principal uncertainties and selected results from an inventory, aiming to quantify the global production and consumption of total PCBs as well as 22 PCB congeners are presented, suggest that almost 97% of the global historical use of PCBs have occurred in the Northern Hemisphere.
Journal ArticleDOI

Towards a global historical emission inventory for selected PCB congeners--a mass balance approach 3. An update.

TL;DR: It is shown that the diversity of historical usage, disposal and accidental release pathways makes it an extremely difficult task to bridge the gap between consumption and emissions, resulting in an equally complex and diverse true emission pattern.

Contribution of Dicofol to the Current DDT Pollution in China

TL;DR: "Dicofol type DDT pollution", defined asDDT pollution caused by dic ofol use and characterized with high o,p'-DDT/p,p'DDT ratio, might be serious in China, especially in southern and eastern China.
