TLDR
Cogongrass is a major impediment to reforestation efforts in southeast Asia, the number one weed in agronomic and vegetable production in many parts of Africa, and is responsible for thousands of hectares of lost native habitat in the southeastern U.S.
Abstract
Cogongrass is considered to be one of the ten most troublesome and problematic weedy species in the world. This species is found throughout tropical and subtropical regions, generally in areas dist...

Effect of Chitosan Molecules on Paraquat Herbicidal Efficacy under Simulated Rainfall Conditions

TL;DR: In this paper , the effect of chitosan on paraquat efficacy under simulated rainfall conditions was evaluated and it was shown that chitoshan may increase the efficacy of paraquats against some noxious weed species under rainfall conditions, which may reduce the risk of contamination into the environment.

Observations of Wild Turkey Nesting in Invasive Cogongrass

TL;DR: Invasive plant species commonly have negative impacts on biodiversity and ecosystem functions but may also provide suitable nesting habitat for wildlife as mentioned in this paper, which suggests that the structure of Cogongrass-invaded plant communities may provide an alternative nesting substrate for Wild Turkeys.

Preliminary report on the allelopathic potential of South American Imperata species (Poaceae: Andropogoneae)

TL;DR: In this paper , aqueous leaf extract of I. brasiliensis, I. condensata and I. tenuis inhibited seed germination and root and shoot growth of lettuce, corn, and tomato.
Journal ArticleDOI

Some pharmacognostic studies of the cogon grass Imperata cylindrica from Mizoram, India

TL;DR: The results suggest that I. cylindrica has important medicinal values, and the plant extract indicated concentration-dependent scavenging activity on DPPH with an inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 2.14 µg/ml.

Evidence for the existence of three primary strategies in plants and its relevance to ecological and evolutionary theory

TL;DR: A triangular model based upon the three strategies of evolution in plants may be reconciled with the theory of r- and K-selection, provides an insight into the processes of vegetation succession and dominance, and appears to be capable of extension to fungi and to animals.

The Imperata grasslands of tropical Asia: area, distribution, and typology

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors generated estimates of the area of Imperata grasslands in tropical Asia, and suggested a typology of grasslands that may be useful to define the pathways toward appropriate land use intensification.
