TLDR
Cogongrass is a major impediment to reforestation efforts in southeast Asia, the number one weed in agronomic and vegetable production in many parts of Africa, and is responsible for thousands of hectares of lost native habitat in the southeastern U.S.
Abstract
Cogongrass is considered to be one of the ten most troublesome and problematic weedy species in the world. This species is found throughout tropical and subtropical regions, generally in areas dist...

Characterisation and Py-GC/MS analysis of Imperata Cylindrica as potential biomass for bio-oil production in Brunei Darussalam

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors systematically looked at the ecological perspective and the availability for bioenergy production from Imperata Cylindrica in Brunei Darussalam Biomass characterisation was carried out to determine the properties and energy content, meanwhile py-GC/MS study was conducted to identify building blocks of value-added chemical from I cylindrica.

Barriers to natural regeneration in temperate forests across the USA

TL;DR: For millennia, natural disturbance regimes, including anthropogenic fire and hunting practices, have led to forest regeneration patterns that created a diversity of forest lands across the USA as mentioned in this paper. But dramatic changes in climates, invasive species, and human population, and land use have created novel disturbance regimes that are causing challenges to securing desired natural regeneration.

A Management Guide for Invasive Plants in Southern Forests

TL;DR: This book provides the latest information on how to organize and enact prevention programs, build strategies, implement integrated procedures for management, and proceed towards site rehabilitation and restoration of forests in the Southern States.

Invasion success of cogongrass, an alien C4 perennial grass, in the southeastern United States: exploration of the ecological basis

TL;DR: This paper explores seven major ecological hypotheses that explain the invasiveness of cogongrass in the southeastern United States and concludes that diversity—Invasibility (Elton’s) Hypothesis should be considered.

Seeding ecological restoration of tropical forests: Priority setting under REDD+

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive review of 367 papers was conducted to evaluate masting phenology, seed storage and seed dispersal distances across important tropical timber tree families and synthesized the implications of these seed-related traits for ecological restoration of tropical forests and its integration into the REDD+ framework.

Evidence for the existence of three primary strategies in plants and its relevance to ecological and evolutionary theory

TL;DR: A triangular model based upon the three strategies of evolution in plants may be reconciled with the theory of r- and K-selection, provides an insight into the processes of vegetation succession and dominance, and appears to be capable of extension to fungi and to animals.

The Imperata grasslands of tropical Asia: area, distribution, and typology

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors generated estimates of the area of Imperata grasslands in tropical Asia, and suggested a typology of grasslands that may be useful to define the pathways toward appropriate land use intensification.
