Sources and transformations of chlorophenols in the natural environment.

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of chlorophenols, their chemical reactions and transformations in the natural environment, as well as factors affecting kinetics and mechanisms of these processes are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Organic material in the global troposphere

TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider the information available on concentration distribution, sources, sinks, and atmospheric transformation reactions of organic matter in the global troposphere and conclude that anthropogenic sources often dominate the atmospheric chemistry of organic material in urban and near-urban air, a key to understanding the global cycling of tropospheric organic substances is a clear understanding of the interaction of the atmosphere with the terrestrial and marine biosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atmospheric transport of continentally derived lipids to the tropical North Pacific

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the temporal variation of the transport of continentally-derived lipids (hydrocarbons, fatty alcohols and fatty acids) to the central tropical North Pacific.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experiments on the distribution of organic pollutants between airborne particulate matter and the corresponding gas phase

TL;DR: In this article, a combination of airborne particulate matter sampling and gas phase sampling was used in conjunction with computerized data elaboration to identify more than 100 compounds in the gas phase.
Journal ArticleDOI

An assessment of the origin and composition of higher molecular weight organic matter in aerosols over Amazonia

TL;DR: Aerosol samples were taken from a tower in the Ducke Forest Reserve about 30 km northeast of the city of Manaus (state capital of Amazonas) at times with typical agricultural burning as discussed by the authors.

Computerized gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in environmental samples.

TL;DR: The three-step method for determining polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in environmental samples consists of a preliminary separation of PAH by solvent and/or column chromatography, identification by a combination of gas Chromatography with quadrupole mass spectrometry and computer, and measurement by computerized gas chromatography using internal standards.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fast quantitative analysis of organic compounds in air-borne particulate matter by gas chromatography with selective mass spectrometric detection

TL;DR: In this article, the major organic constituents of airborne particulate matter are determined by Soxhlet extraction with benzene and methanol, which is performed by the internal standard technique using a mass chromatographic approach.
Journal ArticleDOI

A high-volume air sampling system for use with cellulose filters

TL;DR: In this article, the use of cellulose filters in high-volume air sampling requires a more powerful cooling system for the vacuum pump than does conventional glass fiber filters, and a complete sampling system is described, including pump, shelter, filter holder and accessories.
