Conditioned and unconditioned fear organized in the periaqueductal gray are differentially sensitive to injections of muscimol into amygdaloid nuclei.

TLDR
Examination of the influence of chemical inactivation of these nuclei of amygdala on the freezing and escape responses induced by electrical stimulation through electrodes implanted in the dPAG of Wistar rats shows that the amygdala can affect some, but not all, aspects of unconditioned freezing.

Oxytocin Selectively Gates Fear Responses Through Distinct Outputs from the Central Amygdala

TL;DR: In vivo, oxytocin decreased freezing responses in fear-conditioned rats without affecting the cardiovascular response, suggesting neuropeptidergic signaling can modulate the CeA outputs through separate neuronal circuits and thereby individually steer the various aspects of the fear response.

Amygaloid Projections To The Mesencephalon, Pons And Medulla Oblongata In The Cat

G. Holstege, +1 more
TL;DR: The location of the cells of origin and the distribution of the terminals of the amygdalotegmental projection suggest that this pathway plays an important role in the integration of somatic and autonomic responses associated with affective defense.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dorsal periaqueductal gray-amygdala pathway conveys both innate and learned fear responses in rats

TL;DR: The results suggest that the dPAG conveys unconditional stimulus information to the BLA, which directs both innate and learned fear responses, and that brain stimulation-evoked behaviors are modulated by context.
Journal ArticleDOI

A deficit of brain dystrophin impairs specific amygdala GABAergic transmission and enhances defensive behaviour in mice

TL;DR: It is reported that defensive behaviour, a response to danger or a threat, is enhanced in dystrophin-deficient mdx mice, and an alteration of amygdala local inhibitory neuronal circuits and enhancement of fear-motivated defensive behaviours in mice are suggested.

The Rat Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates

TL;DR: This paper presents a meta-analyses of the determinants of earthquake-triggered landsliding in the Czech Republic over a period of 18 months in order to establish a probabilistic framework for estimating the intensity of the earthquake.

Differential Contribution of Amygdala and Hippocampus to Cued and Contextual Fear Conditioning

TL;DR: An associative roles for the amygdala and a sensory relay role for the hippocampus are suggested in fear conditioning, which is involved in the conditioning of fear responses to simple, modality-specific conditioned stimuli as well as to complex, polymodal stimuli.

Different projections of the central amygdaloid nucleus mediate autonomic and behavioral correlates of conditioned fear

TL;DR: Electrolytic and ibotenic acid lesions of the LH demonstrate that neurons in the LH are involved in the autonomic, but not the behavioral, conditioned response pathway, whereas neurons inThe caudal CG are involvedIn the behavioral and autonomic pathway, although different efferent projections of the central amygdala thus appear to mediate the behavioraland autonomic concomitants of conditioned fear.

Amygdalo-cortical projections in the monkey (Macaca fascicularis)

TL;DR: Amygdalo‐cortical projections were analyzed in the macaque monkey in a series of experiments in which 3H‐amino acids were injected into each of the major divisions of the amygdaloid complex and the anterogradely transported label was demonstrated autoradiographically.
