Abstract
A digital processing technique is proposed in order to enhance image contrast without significant noise enhancement. The technique, derived from Gordon's algorithm, accounts for visual perception criteria, namely for contour detection. The efficiency of our algorithm is compared to Gordon's and to the classical ones.

Efficient Contrast Enhancement Using Adaptive Gamma Correction With Weighting Distribution

TL;DR: An automatic transformation technique that improves the brightness of dimmed images via the gamma correction and probability distribution of luminance pixels and uses temporal information regarding the differences between each frame to reduce computational complexity is presented.

A Histogram Modification Framework and Its Application for Image Contrast Enhancement

TL;DR: A general framework based on histogram equalization for image contrast enhancement, and a low-complexity algorithm for contrast enhancement is presented, and its performance is demonstrated against a recently proposed method.

Computer-aided detection and classification of microcalcifications in mammograms: a survey

TL;DR: The high correlation between the appearance of the microcalcification clusters and the diseases show that the CAD (computer aided diagnosis) systems for automated detection/classification of MCCs will be very useful and helpful for breast cancer control.

Transform Coefficient Histogram-Based Image Enhancement Algorithms Using Contrast Entropy

TL;DR: The presented algorithms use the fact that the relationship between stimulus and perception is logarithmic and afford a marriage between enhancement qualities and computational efficiency to choose the best parameters and transform for each enhancement.

Medial axis analysis of void structure in three-dimensional tomographic images of porous media

TL;DR: In this article, the medial axis is constructed during an iterative erosion procedure which replaces the image of the void structure with a smaller version obtained by eroding its surface layer of voxels.

Edge and Curve Detection for Visual Scene Analysis

TL;DR: Simple sets of parallel operations are described which can be used to detect texture edges, "spots," and "streaks" in digitized pictures and it is shown that a composite output is constructed in which edges between differently textured regions are detected, and isolated objects are also detected, but the objects composing the textures are ignored.

Feature enhancement of film mammograms using fixed and adaptive neighborhoods.

TL;DR: An adaptive neighborhood feature enhancement technique that enhances visibility of objects and details in an image that should aid diagnosis of breast cancer without requiring additional x-ray dose such as for xeromammography.
