Contribution to the experimental and thermodynamic assessment of the AlCaFeSi system—I. AlCaFe, AlCaSi, AlFeSi and CaFeSi systems

TLDR
In this paper, the enthalpy of the ternary compounds Si2Al2Ca, Si7Al8Fe5 and Si 2Al3Fe, as well as invariant temperatures in the Al-Ca-Si and Al-Fe-Si systems were derived from DTA measurements.
Abstract
The binary Al-Ca, Ca-Fe, Ca-Si systems and the ternary Al-Ca-Fe, Al -Fe-Si, Ca-Fe-Si systems were thermodynamically assessed. Experimental determination of the enthalpy of fusion of the ternary compounds Si2Al2Ca, Si7Al8Fe5 and Si2Al3Fe, as well as invariant temperatures in the Al-Ca-Si and Al-Fe-Si systems were derived from DTA measurements. A set of thermodynamic parameters consistent with the phase diagram, mainly in the Si-rich region, is obtained.

Analysis of aluminium based alloys by calorimetry: quantitative analysis of reactions and reaction kinetics

TL;DR: Differential scanning calorimetry has been applied extensively to the analysis of light metals, especially Al-based alloys as discussed by the authors, and is used for analysis of solid state reactions, such as precipitation, homogenisation, devitrivication and recrystallisation.

A thermodynamic description of the Al–Fe–Si system over the whole composition and temperature ranges via a hybrid approach of CALPHAD and key experiments

TL;DR: In this article, the inconsistency between the measured and computed enthalpies of formation via CALPHAD method for the ternary compounds is traced to the Fe-Si system in which there is a disagreement between the experimental enthalpy of formation and CALPAD type one.

SGTE data for pure elements

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the data for the condensed phases of 78 elements as currently used by SGTE (Scientific Group Thermodata Europe) as a sound basis for the critical assessment of thermodynamic data, thereby, perhaps, limiting unnecessary duplication of effort.

Alloy phase diagrams

TL;DR: In this article, an introductory source aimed at practicing engineers and material scientists, the text explains how to use phase diagrams, and more than 1,000 binary and 300 ternary diagrams included cover most commercial alloy systems; compositions are presented in weight percent.
