TLDR
UV-VIS and reflection absorption infrared (RAIR) spectroscopy suggests that Hb retains its near-native structure in clay-(Hb/PSS)(n) films, indicating the better electrochemical reversibility of Hb in these nanocluster films.

Direct electrochemistry and electrocatalysis of horseradish peroxidase based on clay-chitosan-gold nanoparticle nanocomposite.

TL;DR: Gold nanoparticles stabilized by chitosan (AuCS) were hybridized with exfoliated clay nanoplates through electrostatic interaction to modify glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and HRP, a model peroxidase, was entrapped between the Clay/Au CS film and another clay layer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosensing applications of clay-modified electrodes: a review

TL;DR: An overview of the various types of electrochemical biosensors that have been developed with these 2D layered materials, along with significant advances over the last several years are provided.

Natural nanoclays: applications and future trends – a Chilean perspective

TL;DR: A large proportion of the agricultural land in Chile is covered by volcanic soils, the clay fraction of which is dominated by allophane, a suitable support material for enzyme immobilization as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrochemical detection of glyphosate herbicide using horseradish peroxidase immobilized on sulfonated polymer matrix.

TL;DR: The biosensing principle was based on the determination of the cathodic responses of the immobilized HRP to H(2)O(2), before and after incubation in glyphosate standard solutions and inferred that HRP was not denatured during its immobilization on PDMA-PSS composite film.

Three-dimensional Fourier Synthesis of Horse Oxyhaemoglobin at 2.8 Å Resolution: The Atomic Model

TL;DR: The structure of the contacts between unlike subunits suggests that the tetramer, rather than the αβ dimer, is the functional unit of haemoglobin.

Infrared spectroscopy of biomolecules

TL;DR: Theoretical analyses of the Amide I Infrared Bands of Globular Proteins (H. Torii & M. Tasumi) were carried out in this article, where the authors used the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy of Enzyme Systems (J. Cohen and R. Hochstrasser).
