Nondestructive test methods for concrete bridges: A review

TL;DR: NDT methods applicable to concrete bridges are reviewed in this paper, where a flow chart based on damage level along with NDT methods and potential remedial measures are proposed for periodic health monitoring of structures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electrical Resistivity of Concrete for Durability Evaluation: A Review

TL;DR: In this paper, an extensive literature review has been done to address relationship between concrete electrical resistivity and its certain durability characteristics These durability characteristics include chloride diffusivity and corrosion of reinforcement as these have major influence on concrete degradation process Overall, there exists an inverse or direct proportional correlation between these parameters Evaluated results, from measuring the concrete electrical resistor, can also be used as a great indicator to identify early age characteristics of fresh concrete and for evaluation of its properties, determination of moisture content, connectivity of the micropores, and even condition assessment of in-service structures
Journal ArticleDOI

Non-Destructive Evaluation for Corrosion Monitoring in Concrete: A Review and Capability of Acoustic Emission Technique

TL;DR: The capability of the AE technique to detect corrosion occurring in real-time makes it a strong candidate for serving as an efficient NDT method, giving it an advantage over other NDT methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review on five key sensors for monitoring of concrete structures

TL;DR: This review presents the recent achievements in the field of sensors developed for monitoring the health of concrete infrastructures and the sensors particularly fabricated based on fiber optic, Bragg grating, piezoelectric, electrochemical, wireless and self-sensing technologies.

Ultrasonic testing of materials

TL;DR: An ultrasonic apparatus for testing a material comprises an oscillator (10) which generates a selected frequency in the ultrasonic range, and a transducer (1) is connected to the oscillator for applying an ultrasonic signal to the material and for receiving an echo signal back from the material.
