The Kerr/CFT Correspondence
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the near-horizon quantum states can be identified with those of (a chiral half of) a two-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT), and the results apply to any consistent unitary quantum theory of gravity with a Kerr solution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Massive Gravity
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of recent progress in massive gravity is presented, showing how different theories of massive gravity emerge from a higher-dimensional theory of general relativity, leading to the Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati model, cascading gravity and ghost-free massive gravity.

Aspects of the BMS/CFT correspondence
Glenn Barnich,Cédric Troessaert +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the symmetry algebra of asymptotically flat spacetimes at null infinity in 4 dimensions is taken to be the semi-direct sum of supertranslations with infinitesimal local conformal transformations.

Lectures on the Infrared Structure of Gravity and Gauge Theory
TL;DR: A transcript of a course given by Strominger at Harvard in spring semester 2016 as discussed by the authors contains a pedagogical overview of recent developments connecting the subjects of soft theorems, the memory effect and asymptotic symmetries in four-dimensional QED, nonabelian gauge theory and gravity with applications to black holes.

Superrotation Charge and Supertranslation Hair on Black Holes
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that a black hole can be supertranslated by throwing in an asymmetric shock wave, and a leading-order Bondi-gauge expression is derived for the linearized horizon supertranslation charge and shown to generate, via the Dirac bracket, supertranslations on the linearised phase space of gravitational excitations of the horizon.

Quantization of Gauge Systems
Marc Henneaux,Claudio Teitelboim +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a systematic study of the classical and quantum theories of gauge systems is presented, starting with Dirac's analysis showing that gauge theories are constrained Hamiltonian systems, and the classical foundations of BRST theory are laid out with a review of the necessary concepts from homological algebra.

Central Charges in the Canonical Realization of Asymptotic Symmetries: An Example from Three-Dimensional Gravity
J. D. Brown,Marc Henneaux +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the global charges of a gauge theory may yield a nontrivial central extension of the asymptotic symmetry algebra already at the classical level.
