TLDR
To the knowledge, this is the first reported case of a hybrid single‐stage TAVR and ascending aortic TEVAR using transapical access.
Abstract
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) of acute ascending aortic pathology is feasible; however, the unique features of this aortic segment in addition to access challenges restricts its use to a select, high-risk subset of patients. With the advent of TAVR, large device delivery using transapical access has become a well-defined technique. We report a patient with critical aortic stenosis and an acute ascending aortic penetrating ulcer with tamponade managed successfully utilizing transapical TAVR and TEVAR. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a hybrid single-stage TAVR and ascending aortic TEVAR using transapical access. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Suitability of the porcine aortic model for transcatheter aortic root repair

TL;DR: The porcine heart can be used as an experimental model to design and test new devices for catheter-based composite repair of the aortic root, and caution is required in using devices with tailored dimensions that must be adapted to the smaller pig's root.

Combined Transapical Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement and Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair for Severe Aortic Stenosis and Arch Aneurysm.

Commentary: Emergent TAVR During TEVAR.

TL;DR: The emergent use of TAVR to treat iatrogenic severe aortic regurgitation caused by unintended proximal displacement of an ascending aortsic endograft that resulted in tethering of the left coronary cusp of the native aorti valve in the open position is reported.

Endograft limb trimming and resheathing can be an alternative for emergent aortic repair without adequate stent graft availability

TL;DR: In both cases, tabletop deployment and removal of two stents from an Endurant iliac limb, followed by resheathing and deployment, allowed successful repair as a bridging therapy for open surgery.

Transcatheter Aortic-Valve Implantation for Aortic Stenosis in Patients Who Cannot Undergo Surgery

TL;DR: In patients with severe aortic stenosis who were not suitable candidates for surgery, TAVI, as compared with standard therapy, significantly reduced the rates of death from any cause, the composite end point of deathFrom any cause or repeat hospitalization, and cardiac symptoms, despite the higher incidence of major strokes and major vascular events.

Endovascular Repair of Ascending Aortic Aneurysm by Transapical Approach and Periscope Technique

TL;DR: A dual approach in terms of transapical stent-graft implantation and the periscope technique for perfusion of the supra-aortic branches may be an option for the treatment of inoperable aneurysms of the ascending aorta.
