Journal ArticleDOI
Method and Mechanisms of Soil Stabilization Using Electric Arc Furnace Dust.
TL;DR: The mechanisms of stabilization of the selected soils due to the use of EAFD along with a small quantity of cement are elucidated and considerably improve the mechanical properties and durability of both marl and sand.
Journal ArticleDOI
An integrated assessment of the potential of agricultural and forestry residues for energy production in China
Ji Gao,Aiping Zhang,Shu Kee Lam,Xuesong Zhang,Xuesong Zhang,Allison M. Thomson,Erda Lin,Kejun Jiang,Leon Clarke,James A. Edmonds,Page Kyle,Sha Yu,Yuyu Zhou,Sheng Zhou +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors employ the Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM) to estimate the potential of agricultural and forestry residue biomass for energy production in China, and show that residue biomass has the potential to be an important component in China's sustainable energy production portfolio.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of the stoichiometry and efficiency of CO2 fixation coupled to reduced sulfur oxidation
TL;DR: A generic theoretical framework for linking the stoichiometry and energy conservation efficiency of autotrophic sulfur oxidation while accounting for the partitioning of the reduced sulfur pool between the energy generating and energy conserving steps as well as between the main possible products (sulfate vs. zero-valent sulfur).
Journal ArticleDOI
The APSES transcription factor Efg1 is a global regulator that controls morphogenesis and biofilm formation in Candida parapsilosis
Leona A. Connolly,Alessandro Riccombeni,Zsuzsana Grózer,Linda M. Holland,Denise B. Lynch,David R. Andes,Attila Gácser,Geraldine Butler +7 more
TL;DR: This work shows that in Candida parapsilosis, Efg1 is a major regulator of a different morphological switch at the colony level, from a concentric to smooth morphology, and suggests that EFG1 has an ancient role as regulator of development in fungi, and is central to several regulatory networks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decolorization of different azo dyes by Phanerochaete chrysosporium RP78 under optimal condition
TL;DR: The physical adsorption of the azo dyes by mycelia was not significant which indicated that the enzymatic degradation of the dyes was occurred, and about 100 % decolorization was achieved after 24 h for two most widely used groups of azo-dyes in textile industry consisting reactive and acidic.

Statistical Power Analysis for the Behavioral Sciences
TL;DR: The concepts of power analysis are discussed in this paper, where Chi-square Tests for Goodness of Fit and Contingency Tables, t-Test for Means, and Sign Test are used.
Journal ArticleDOI
The moderator–mediator variable distinction in social psychological research: Conceptual, strategic, and statistical considerations.
Reuben M. Baron,David A. Kenny +1 more
TL;DR: This article seeks to make theorists and researchers aware of the importance of not using the terms moderator and mediator interchangeably by carefully elaborating the many ways in which moderators and mediators differ, and delineates the conceptual and strategic implications of making use of such distinctions with regard to a wide range of phenomena.
Book
Using multivariate statistics
TL;DR: In this Section: 1. Multivariate Statistics: Why? and 2. A Guide to Statistical Techniques: Using the Book Research Questions and Associated Techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI
The CES-D Scale: A Self-Report Depression Scale for Research in the General Population
TL;DR: The CES-D scale as discussed by the authors is a short self-report scale designed to measure depressive symptomatology in the general population, which has been used in household interview surveys and in psychiatric settings.
