TLDR
The most successful of the four multiplex RT-LAMP assays achieved a diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of 98.0% and 98.1%, and did not falsely detect FMDV in known negatives or samples containing swine vesicle disease virus, vesicular stomatitis virus or vesicles exanthema of swine virus.

Evaluation of Two Lyophilized Molecular Assays to Rapidly Detect Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus Directly from Clinical Samples in Field Settings.

TL;DR: Lyophilized rRT‐PCR and RT‐LAMP assays proved to be reliable in their ability to detect FMDV in a range of clinical samples from acutely infected as well as convalescent cattle, and support the use of highly sensitive molecular assays into field settings for simple and rapid detection of F MDV.

A Mismatch-Tolerant Reverse Transcription Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Method and Its Application on Simultaneous Detection of All Four Serotype of Dengue Viruses.

TL;DR: A novel mismatch-tolerant LAMP assay and its application in the detection of dengue viruses (DENV), which has a markedly improved amplification efficiency especially for the mutants forming mismatches with internal primers (FIP/BIP) and loop primer (FLP/BLP).

Challenges and prospects for the control of foot-and-mouth disease: an African perspective

TL;DR: Progress that has been achieved in the development of new technologies, including research towards improved tailored vaccines, appropriate vaccine strain selection, vaccine potency, and diagnostics are emphasized, and how it relates to the conditions in Africa is focused on.

Challenges and Economic Implications in the Control of Foot and Mouth Disease in Sub-Saharan Africa: Lessons from the Zambian Experience

TL;DR: A review of the control challenges and economic impact of FMD outbreaks in Zambia was made and identified gaps may be considered in the annual appraisal of the FMD national control strategy in order to advance on the progressive control pathway.

Loop-mediated isothermal amplification of DNA

TL;DR: A novel method that amplifies DNA with high specificity, efficiency and rapidity under isothermal conditions that employs a DNA polymerase and a set of four specially designed primers that recognize a total of six distinct sequences on the target DNA.

Accelerated reaction by loop-mediated isothermal amplification using loop primers.

TL;DR: The LAMP method presented here uses loop primers to achieve reaction times of less than half that of the original LAMP, which should facilitate genetic analysis, including genetic diagnosis in the clinical laboratory.

Foot-and-Mouth Disease

TL;DR: The reemergence of FMD in developed countries that had been disease free for many years is described and the effect that this has had on disease control strategies is described.
