TLDR
3D brain stem structure is segmented and analysed for texture alterations using multifractal features to differentiate EMCI from other Alzheimer’s disease stages and results indicate that the proposed technique is able to segment the brainstem structure from all the considered images.

Differentiation of Alzheimer conditions in brain MR images using bidimensional multiscale entropy-based texture analysis of lateral ventricles

TL;DR: In this article , a multiscale entropy-based texture analysis is proposed to quantify the textural variations in images at multiple scales and complexity indices are evaluated for each scale to study textural variation.

Nonlinear Statistical Analysis of Normal and Pathological Infant Cry Signals in Cepstrum Domain by Multifractal Wavelet Leaders

TL;DR: This study improves the understanding of infant crying by providing a complete description of its intrinsic dynamics to better evaluate its health status.

Wavelet-based multifractal analysis of C.elegans sequences based on FCGS signal

TL;DR: The WTMM method is used to perform a multifractal analysis of the C.elegans genome and it is proved that this variability was mainly dependent on differences in the contents of repetitive DNA in each DNA sequence.

Multifractional Gaussian Process Based on Self-similarity Modelling for MS Subgroups’ Clustering with Fuzzy C-Means

TL;DR: It is shown that mFd_MS dataset yielded a higher accuracy rate since the critical and significant self-similar attributes were identified in the process, and the efficiency, reliability and applicability of the proposed method is confirmed.

Study on the effect of extreme learning machine and its variants in differentiating Alzheimer conditions from selective regions of brain MR images

TL;DR: In this paper , an attempt has been made to analyze the effect of the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) classifier and its variants in the differentiation of healthy controls (HC) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) using structural MR images.

Voxel-Based Morphometry—The Methods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the steps involved in VBM, with particular emphasis on segmenting gray matter from MR images with non-uniformity artifact and provide evaluations of the assumptions that underpin the method, including the accuracy of the segmentation and the assumptions made about the statistical distribution of the data.

Mild cognitive impairment represents early-stage Alzheimer disease.

TL;DR: It is concluded that MCI generally represents early-stage AD and individuals currently characterized as having MCI progress steadily to greater stages of dementia severity at rates dependent on the level of cognitive impairment at entry and they almost always have the neuropathologic features of AD.
