TLDR
Effects of EDTA and various proteolytic enzymes on disaggregation of the pseudoplasmodium (slug) of the cellular slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum were studied and pronase plus BAL was most effective and did not require the presence of salt for complete disaggregation.About:

TL;DR: Analysis of the two differentiated cell types, spores and stalk cells, and their precursors revealed a large number of differentially expressed genes as well as unexpected patterns of gene expression, which shed new light on the timing and possible mechanisms of cell-type divergence.

Social amoebae trap and kill bacteria by casting DNA nets
TL;DR: This work reports that Sentinel (S) cells of the multicellular slug stage of the social amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum produce ETs upon stimulation with bacteria or lipopolysaccharide in a reactive oxygen species-dependent manner, and suggests that the origin of DNA-based ETs as an innate immune defence predates the emergence of metazoans.

TL;DR: Initial comparisons of the differentiating amoebae with respect to their location within the slug, protein composition, and developmental capabilities are performed and suggest differences in cell cohesion and chemotaxis are suggested.

Carbohydrate-binding protein from Polysphondylium pallidum implicated in intercellular adhesion
TL;DR: The isolation of a developmentally-regulated carbohydrate binding protein from another cellular slime mould, Polysphondylium pallidum, that seems to mediate specific cellular adhesion as judged from the following findings.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors concluded that Dictyostelium cells can establish at least two different types of intercellular contacts differing in their sensitivity to EDTA, independent of the developmental stage of the cells; the less sensitive contact is not established until the aggregation stage.
