TLDR
It was concluded that memories stored during an ECS state are dissociated from the normal state, and this phenomenon may account for part of the amnestic properties of ECS.About:

The effects of ACTH- and vasopressin-analogues on CO2-induced retrograde amnesia in rats
TL;DR: Amnesia for a one-trial step-through passive avoidance response was induced in rats by application of CO2 until respiratory arrest occurred and the vasopressin-analogue desglycinamide lysine vasoppressin (DG-LVP) antagonized the amnesia when administered 1 hr prior to the acquisition trial or 1 hr before the test trial.

Modulation of Learning and Memory: Effects of Drugs Influencing Neurotransmitters
TL;DR: Drugs have been utilized for many years as experimental tools in the analysis of the biological mechanisms underlying behavior and an assessment of the actions of various drugs on behavior, coupled with knowledge of mechanisms of drug action are assumed.

Recovery of memory after amnesia induced by electroconvulsive shock.
Sheila Zinkin,A. J. Miller +1 more
TL;DR: Electroconvulsive shock given to rats immediately after one-trial avoidance learning produced a significant amnesic effect 24 hours later; this amnesia had largely disappeared in further retention tests 48 and 72 hours after treatment.

Recovery of Memory following Amnesia
TL;DR: If memories are not permanently destroyed by the administration of amnesic agents, a revision of consolidation theory will be necessary.
