Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of high-temperature deformation behaviors for Ti–Al–Nb–V alloy with different initial microstructures at the strain of 0.7

TL;DR: In this article, the deformation mechanism of the Widmanstatten structure was shown to be dislocation glide below 600°C, and above this temperature, dynamic recrystallization in the B2 phase became dominant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Developing dual-textured titanium (Ti) extrudates via utilizing the β transus in commercially pure Ti

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors fabricated dual-textured Ti extrudates through a powder metallurgy route via manipulating the hot extrusion temperature, and the crystallographic texture along extrusion direction (ED) was analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidation in Reused Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing Ti-6Al-4V Feedstock: A Brief Review

TL;DR: In this paper, the potential effect variations of the powder reuse method may have on the oxidation rate over multiple builds in both electron beam and laser powder bed fusion processes was investigated, and the results highlight a need for better reporting of the details of powder reuse methods (e.g., mixing) to appropriately assess the potential for the reuse method to affect oxidation rate.
Book ChapterDOI

Hydrogen assisted magnesiothermic reduction (HAMR) of TiO2 to produce titanium metal powder

TL;DR: A hydrogen assisted magnesiothermic reduction (HAMR) process has been developed for producing Ti metal powder, directly from commercial TiO2, that has high purity, low oxygen, and meets the ASTM specifications for a general purpose Ti sponge as discussed by the authors.

The deformation of plastically non-homogeneous materials

TL;DR: The geometrically necessary dislocations as discussed by the authors were introduced to distinguish them from the statistically storages in pure crystals during straining and are responsible for the normal 3-stage hardening.
