In this article, a nonadiabatic variational procedure is used to diagonalize the Hamiltonian of the helium atom to obtain the /sup 3/S/sup e/ states.
Abstract
A nonadiabatic variational procedure is used to diagonalize the Hamiltonian of the helium atom to obtain the /sup 3/S/sup e/ states. A partial-wave analysis of the wave functions has been made. The one-body densities and the shape densities have been investigated. Detailed information on electron-electron correlation has been obtained. The K-classification scheme has been recovered. The strong radial-angular correlation regions together with the associated twin nodes have been discovered.

High resolution X-ray spectroscopy of $\zeta$ Puppis with the XMM-Newton reflection grating spectrometer

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the first high resolution X-ray spectrum of the supergiant star Puppis, obtained with the Reflection Grating Spectrometer on the XMM-Newton.

Broadband vibration energy harvesting by application of stochastic resonance from rotational environments

TL;DR: In this article, a model for energy harvesting from a rotating automotive tyre is suggested in which the principle of stochastic resonance is advantageously exploited, and a small harvester comprising a magnetically repellant configuration in which an instrumented cantilever beam can flip between two physical response states when suitably excited by the rotation of a car wheel into which it is fitted.

Fast and slow sound in the two-temperature model

TL;DR: In this paper, the dispersion relation for disparate mass gas mixtures is derived from a simplified two-temperature model, and it is shown that the hydrodynamic sound mode goes over continuously into either a fast or a slow propagating sound mode (kl+ a), depending on the composition.

Qualitative details of electron-electron correlation of 1P0 helium states by partial-wave analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, the N = 1 and 2 series of the 1P0 helium states have been investigated by partial-wave analysis, and by observing the one-body densities, the radial-radial correlation functions and the shape-densities.

High-Temperature Superconductivity: The Experimental Situation

TL;DR: The potential impact on technology of the new high temperature superconductors has been the driving force behind the enormous volume of work in the field over the last few years as discussed by the authors, which is consistent with its importance, given the words of the Soviet physicist V.L. Ginzburg [6.6].
