TLDR
Three different fractions of d -glucuronolactone dehydrogenase were isolated from rat liver supernatant by means of CM and DEAE Sephadex ion exchange chromatography, and enhanced activity was obtained with both substrates, but it varied in degree within the group of animals.

Induction of aldehyde dehydrogenases.

TL;DR: Rat liver contains two inducible aldehyde dehydrogenases in the cytosol, and phenobarbital, 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2-bis-(p-chlorophenylethane) (DDT), and dodecachlorooctahydro-1,3,4-metheno- 2H-cyclobuto[cd]pentalene (Mirex) induce only the φ enzyme significantly

Effect of phenobarbital and 3-methylcholanthrene on aldehyde dehydrogenase activity in cultures of HepG2 cells and normal human hepatocytes.

TL;DR: It is concluded, that HepG2 hepatoma cells behave similar to the normal hepatocytes in terms of AL DH regulation and can be used for studies on the activity of ALDH as modified by added xenobiotics.

Adaptive increases in drug-metabolizing enzymes induced by phenobarbital and other drugs

TL;DR: Evidence is presented that phenobarbital induces the synthesis of these enzymes and stimulates liver protein synthesis, and administration of certain drugs enhances the ability of liver microsomes to metabolize the same or a closely related cornpound.

The metabolism of methylated aminoazo dyes. V. Evidence for induction of enzyme synthesis in the rat by 3-methylcholanthrene.

TL;DR: The ability of fortified rat liver homogenates to N-demethylate 3-methyl-4-monomethylaminoazobenzene (demethylase activity) and to reduce the azo linkage of 4-demethylaminozanthrene (reductaseActivity) was increased several-fold by the intraperitoneal injection of 0.1 to 10 mg.

Horse Liver Aldehyde Dehydrogenase I. PURIFICATION AND CHARACTERIZATION

TL;DR: Horse liver aldehyde: NAD oxidoreductase (EC 1.2.1.3) has been purified to homogeneity by a procedure consisting of salt fractionation, ion exchange chromatography, and isoelectric focusing, suggesting a tetrameric structure for the native enzyme.
