Culture and ethnicity: Maintaining the distinction

TL;DR: The authors compared Maori and Pakeha (European) groups in New Zealand to illustrate the importance of the distinction between ethnicity and culture and found that Maori children with some knowledge of Maori language and culture have higher scores on achievement tests than children who had little or no Maori culture.
