TLDR
Recent ecological studies of endemic populations of the northern flying squirrel and the southern red-backed vole suggest that risk of extirpation in managed landscapes is likely less than was presumed during recent land management planning in the region, but there are essential questions for both species regarding the influence of annual population fluctuations on habitat distribution and population demography.

Ecology of Glaucomys sabrinus: Habitat, Demography, and Community Relations

TL;DR: Sustaining viable and well-distributed populations in heavily modified landscapes will depend on the capability of remaining forest habitat to sustain breeding populations without immigration, or functional connectivity among fragmented populations such that viable metapopulations will persist.

Estimated persistence of northern flying squirrel populations in temperate rain forest fragments of Southeast Alaska

TL;DR: It was concluded that it was unlikely that small isolated habitat reserves could sustain populations of flying squirrels for >25 years in the absence of immigration and dispersal among small reserves is critical to ensure that they function to support metapopulations of northern flying Squirrels.

Temperate and Boreal Rainforests of the Pacific Coast of North America

TL;DR: The world's most expansive stretch of coastal temperate and boreal rainforest is located between the Pacific Ocean and a chain of coastal mountains spanning 23 degrees of latitude and some 3,600 kilometers.

On the Problem of Vague Terms: A Glossary of Clearly Stated Assumptions & Careful, Patient, Descriptions

TL;DR: In this article, a glossary of the most fundamental, open problems in economics is presented, with a focus on the assumptions on which a theory is based. But the glossary does not address the underlying assumptions of the theory itself.

Phylogeographic inference using Bayesian model comparison across a fragmented chorus frog species complex

TL;DR: This study implemented a Bayesian model comparison approach to investigate previous biogeographic hypotheses while simultaneously inferring the presence of genetic structure in a chorus frog species complex and demonstrates the utility of model‐based approaches for phylogeographic inference.
