Fabrication of trapezoidal-Index profile single-mode fiber

TLDR
In this article, a single-mode fiber with graded index cores was proposed as a means of producing dispersion-free singlemode fiber in the long-wavelength region near 1.3μm with relatively loose dimensional tolerances.
Abstract
Fabrication of single-mode fibers with graded- index cores was first proposed as a means of producing dispersion-free single-mode fiber In the long-wavelength region near 1.3μm with relatively loose dimensional tolerances.1 A subsequent analysis of energy confinement indicated that low loss could also be achieved with these designs.2 The first reported results on triangular profile single-mode fibers3 exhibited low loss and zero material dispersion at 7.4μm. Subsequently, triangular profile fibers were reported4,5 with zero dispersion at 1.55μm and with a loss at that wavelength of <0.28 dB/km.

Transmission characteristics of a coaxial optical fiber line

TL;DR: In this paper, a coaxial optical fiber line is proposed and studied as a long-distance transmission medium, where the radial structure consists of a core surrounded by two clads, and the inner clads have higher refractive index than the core and the outer clads.

Characteristics of dispersion-shifted dual-shaped core fibers

TL;DR: In this article, the dispersion characteristics and bending loss of dispersion-shifted fibers with dual-shaped core and α index were investigated and it was shown that the bending loss was smaller than those of α-index fibers at a fixed condition of splicing loss.

Dispersionless single-mode fibers with trapezoidal-index profiles in the wavelength region near 1.5 microm

TL;DR: The transmission performance of trapezoidal-index profile single-mode fibers that can operate with zero dispersion in the 1.5-microm region has been investigated and it was found that as the aspect ratio decreases the optimum core radius of the fiber gradually increases.

Electromagnetic fields, field confinement, and energy flow in dispersionless single-mode lightguides with graded-index profiles

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the degree of confinement of the electromagnetic field to the core of a graded-index, single-mode, optical fiber can be optimized by the proper choice of the radial variation of the index.
