TLDR
In this paper, a review of the spot weld models available in the literature is presented, and model updating based on the measured vibration characteristics is then used to improve the accuracy of the most common coarse models of spot welds.

Modelling and updating of large surface-to-surface joints in the AWE-MACE structure

TL;DR: In this paper, the AWE-MACE model updating of joints is carried out using a sensitivity method using a layer of special interface elements having material properties that may be adjusted to improve the prediction of the complete model.

Regularised finite element model updating using measured incomplete modal data

TL;DR: In this article, the Tikhonov regularization method incorporating the L-curve criterion is employed to produce reliable solutions for the chosen updating parameters in order to reduce the influence of modal measurement uncertainty.

Fatigue Assessment of Welded Joints by Local Approaches

TL;DR: Local approaches applied to a seam-welded tubular joint are discussed in this paper, where the authors present a structural stress or strain approach for welded joints and a notch strain or crack propagation approach for seam welded lap joints.

Three-dimensional finite element analysis of the mechanical behavior of spot welds

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed finite element solution of spot welds for various ratio values between the sheet metal thickness and spot-weld diameter was obtained from detailed analysis using the finite element method and used to provide a mechanics-based rationale for relevant experimental observations in the literature.
