Synthesis, Light Emission, Nanoaggregation, and Restricted Intramolecular Rotation of 1,1-Substituted 2,3,4,5-Tetraphenylsiloles

TL;DR: A series of 10 2,3,4,5-tetraphenylsiloles with different 1,1-substituents [XYSi(CPh)4] were prepared, and three of them were characterized crystallographically as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reevaluation of absolute luminescence quantum yields of standard solutions using a spectrometer with an integrating sphere and a back-thinned CCD detector.

TL;DR: Using a back-thinned CCD as the detector, the sensitivity for spectral detection in both the short and long wavelength regions is greatly improved compared with that of an optical detection system that uses a conventional photodetector.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photophysics of some common fluorescence standards

TL;DR: In this paper, an accurate study of the fluorescence decay and fluorescence quantum yield of three fluorescence standards is made, based on data on 9,10-diphenylanthracene, and it is concluded that the refractive index squared correction employed in relative quantum yield measurements in right-angle fluorometers is valid, and a valid comparison of radiative lifetimes of the same molecule measured in different solvents is required for the valid comparison.
Journal ArticleDOI

Luminescent silole nanoparticles as chemoselective sensors for Cr(VI).

TL;DR: Colloidal suspensions of 3-aminopropylmethyl(tetraphenyl)silole nanoparticles can be used as selective chemosensors for carcinogenic chromium(VI) analyte and show both higher sensitivity and greater selectivity (100-fold) for CrO4(2-) detection than for other oxoanion interferents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pyrene-Labeled Base-Discriminating Fluorescent DNA Probes for Homogeneous SNP Typing

TL;DR: The design of novel base-discriminating fluorescent (BDF) nucleobases and their application to single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) typing are described and it is suggested that the high polarity near the pyrenecarboxamide group is responsible for the strong A-selective fluorescence emission.
