TLDR
In this article, a simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point, which is defined as the ratio of the boiling point of the compound to its retention index.
Abstract
For the characterization of organic substances in gas chromatography a number termed «retention index» is proposed. A simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point.

Calculation and application of the retention indices in programmed-temperature gas chromatography

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors calculate retention indices according to each period in combined programmed-temperature and isothermal gas chromatography, and show that the retention indices can be computed for both types of periods.

Kauri Resins—Modern and Fossil

TL;DR: The genus Agathis, a group of conifers found in the land areas between New Zealand and Malaysia, has several conspicuous resin-forming systems and particular interest is attached to the biosynthesis, evolution and function of these products.

Prediction of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatographic separations: A theoretical and practical exercise

TL;DR: In this paper, a model is developed to predict which combination of columns is the most appropriate for a specified separation problem, based on calculating retention times and peak widths of the compounds to be separated, on both columns, thus predicting the eventual chromatogram.

Occurrence and significance of prist-1-ene in kerogen pyrolysates.

TL;DR: The principal isoprenoid, obtained by the high temperature pyrolysis of kerogens has been identified as prist-1-ene and it is reported that the role of kerogen as a source, or sink, of isoprene moieties is not completely understood.

Analysis of profiles of conjugated steroids in urine by ion-exchange separation and gas chromatography—mass spectrometry

TL;DR: In this article, a simplified method for the analysis of metabolic profiles of steroids in urine is described, where solid extraction with Amberlite XAD-2 or Sep-Pak C1 g cartridges is followed by group fractionation of unconjugated neutral and phenolic steroids, monoglucuronides, monosulphates and disulphate on the lipophilic strong anion exchanger triethylaminohydroxyproply Sephadex LH-20 (TEAP-LH-20).

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation and micro-estimation of volatile fatty acids from formic acid to dodecanoic acid

TL;DR: Modifications necessary to the theory of Martin & Synge (1941) to allow for the compressibility of the mobile phase are presented and the application of the gas-liquid partition chromatogram to the separation of volatile fatty acids is described.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation of volatile aliphatic amines and of the homologues of pyridine.

TL;DR: Analysis of the volatile amines present in Chenopodium vulvaria L. shows the presence of only ammonia and trimethylamine, compared with standard mixture ofmono-, di and tri-methylamines, which indicates a low concentration of ammonia in the plant.
