TLDR
In this article, a simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point, which is defined as the ratio of the boiling point of the compound to its retention index.
Abstract
For the characterization of organic substances in gas chromatography a number termed «retention index» is proposed. A simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point.

Anxiolytic-like effect of essential oil extracted from Abies sachalinensis

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of essential oil extracted from Abies sachalinensis (EOAS) on emotional behavior was examined using a mouse model and the elevated plus maze task was used to evaluate the effect.

Endogenous gibberellins in Lolium perenne and influence of defoliation on their contents in elongating leaf bases and in leaf sheaths

TL;DR: In both leaf tissues, defoliation induced an increase in GA 53 level, while GA 20 and GA 1 levels decreased, suggesting that the GA 53 → GA 44 , as well as GA 19 → GA 20 , conversions were slowed down.

Measurement and prediction of dead times and column diameter in capillary gas chromatography by using air, methane and some solvents

TL;DR: In this article, a method for the determination of the hold-up time of column diameter by using experimental measurement of retention times is suggested, and the effect of the uncertainty of the diameter of the column given by the manufacturer on the dead time calculation is investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

A FORTRAN program for automatic calculation of retention indices in gas chromatography

TL;DR: A FORTRAN IV computer program was developed in this article, which allows rapid calculation of retention indices of substances in any experimental condition and with every kind of chromatographic analysis, without need of particular knowledge of programming language.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation and micro-estimation of volatile fatty acids from formic acid to dodecanoic acid

TL;DR: Modifications necessary to the theory of Martin & Synge (1941) to allow for the compressibility of the mobile phase are presented and the application of the gas-liquid partition chromatogram to the separation of volatile fatty acids is described.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation of volatile aliphatic amines and of the homologues of pyridine.

TL;DR: Analysis of the volatile amines present in Chenopodium vulvaria L. shows the presence of only ammonia and trimethylamine, compared with standard mixture ofmono-, di and tri-methylamines, which indicates a low concentration of ammonia in the plant.
