TLDR
In this article, a simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point, which is defined as the ratio of the boiling point of the compound to its retention index.
Abstract
For the characterization of organic substances in gas chromatography a number termed «retention index» is proposed. A simple relation exists between the retention index of a compound on a non-polar stationary phase and its boiling point.

Marine Metabolomics: a Method for Nontargeted Measurement of Metabolites in Seawater by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry.

TL;DR: A gas chromatography MS (GC-MS) method that avoids sample altering during salt removal and that detects metabolites down to nanomolar concentrations from less than 1 ml of seawater is developed, which demonstrates that SeaMet advances marine metabolomics by enabling a nontargeted and quantitative analysis of marine metabolites, thus providing new insights into nutrient cycles in the oceans.

Anxiolytic effect and tissue distribution of inhaled Alpinia zerumbet essential oil in mice.

TL;DR: All the behavioral assessments indicated that inhalation of AZEO had a positive anxiolytic effect, and it is necessary to consider tissue distribution for investigating the effects of essential oil inhalation.

iMatch: A retention index tool for analysis of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry data

TL;DR: The analysis results demonstrate that using the retention index values, via constructing a set of DFs, can improve the spectral matching-based identifications by reducing a significant portion of false-positives.

Chemical Composition and Cytotoxic and Antioxidant Activities of Satureja montana L. Essential Oil and Its Antibacterial Potential against Salmonella Spp. Strains

TL;DR: In this article, chemical composition as well as cytotoxic, antioxidant, and antimicrobial activities of winter savory Satureja montana L. essential oil (EO) were described.

Screening procedure for detection of dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker metabolites in urine as part of a systematic toxicological analysis procedure for acidic compounds by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry after extractive methylation.

TL;DR: A gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric screening procedure was developed for the detection of dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker ("calcium antagonist") metabolites in urine as part of a systematic toxicological analysis procedure for acidic drugs and poisons after extractive methylation.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation and micro-estimation of volatile fatty acids from formic acid to dodecanoic acid

TL;DR: Modifications necessary to the theory of Martin & Synge (1941) to allow for the compressibility of the mobile phase are presented and the application of the gas-liquid partition chromatogram to the separation of volatile fatty acids is described.

Gas-liquid partition chromatography: the separation of volatile aliphatic amines and of the homologues of pyridine.

TL;DR: Analysis of the volatile amines present in Chenopodium vulvaria L. shows the presence of only ammonia and trimethylamine, compared with standard mixture ofmono-, di and tri-methylamines, which indicates a low concentration of ammonia in the plant.
